Our Teachers

Agueda Fernandez is the founder of Little Hands Big Hearts Wonderschool. Although she began her career in sales, she recently realized that she would rather have a career that is truly fulfilling and lets her do what she loves - caring for children! Coming from a large family and raising her own two children, Agueda has plenty of experience taking care of children of all ages. She is very proud to have created a space where other families in her neighborhood can now find a safe, loving program where their children can grow.

Ilene is Agueda’s daughter and is an assistant in the program. She is a graduate of NYU and is a certified nurse. She, like her mother, also loves caring for children and is thrilled to help at Little Hands Big Hearts Wonderschool. When working in hospitals during rotations, her favorite place to be was pediatrics!

Reina and Sabina are additional assistants in the daycare. Reina is a mother of 3 children. Sabina is a mother as well and has additional experience caring for children with special needs. Both of them are excited to be a part of the LHBH community!

Philosophy

At Little Hands Big Hearts, we want all our families to feel like they are coming to a warm and loving second home! Children in our care will always feel safe and loved. More than anything, we want them to have fun while they learn and discover new things! We respect all children’s learning styles and will look to support them as they grow. We are so excited to welcome you into our playspace and meet your little one.

Location

Our daycare is located in a bright, welcoming apartment in Washington Heights. We are just a 5 minute walk from the 1 train!

(Please forgive our building entrance as there is construction taking place at the moment!)

Our care environment is filled with learning areas and age-appropriate materials that allow children to play and explore. Some of our favorite play materials are blocks to build with, art supplies and puzzles, and plenty of books for reading!

Children will have some outdoor time everyday at a local park when the weather permits. We know how important it is to get outside and have kids connect with the world around them.
