Our Teachers

Hello! I am Aminatou Sow, the founder of Dara Family Daycare. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom and grow. I have 7 years of experience working with young children, and I am a mom as well. :) My program is named after my village in Guinea, West Africa.

Philosophy

At Dara Family Daycare, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an environment that engages children with developmentally-appropriate activities and materials. In our program, children will feel supported as they engage with new ideas and learnings.

Location

Dara Family Daycare is located in a bright, welcoming apartment in the Harlem neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), and art area (for expressing emotions and ideas).

Children will have some outdoor time everyday at mix of both my private yard and local parks and playgrounds. Connecting with nature is vital to a child’s happiness and growth.

At Dara Family Daycare, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.
