Our Teachers
Hello! I am Jacea Brown, the founder of Innovative Minds Preschool/Daycare. I was inspired to start my own program because of the love I have for children. And the joy it brings me to be around them. To guide them, teach them, care for them and nurture them to maturity is a pleasure of mine. It has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom and grow in a warm, safe and loving environment, a home away from home. I have over 20 years of experience working with young children as a nanny, certified child care specialist, and mom to two adorable kids. I have a passion for caring and nurturing children into being the best they can be. I love for them to explore, experiment, try, and if they fail, keep trying. I love for them to be motivated, inspired and successful, while having fun. Innovative Minds Preschool/Daycare, is a Montessori-inspired program, and it teaches children problem solving, independence, patience, and they learn at their own pace, in a friendly and warm environment.

Philosophy
At Innovative Minds Preschool/Daycare, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an environment that helps prepare children to thrive in school and the broader world. In our program, children will feel empowered to follow their own interests, learn at their own pace and in ways which are natural and less structured. The program is centered around children’s natural curiosity and inclination to learn in a safe space.
Location
Innovative Minds Preschool/Daycare, is located in a warm, welcoming single family home in the Cortlandt Manor neighborhood.
We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), manipulatives and math area (for fine motor skills and beginning math concepts), and reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite).
Children will have some outdoor time everyday in my spacious backyard. Connecting with nature is vital to a child’s happiness and growth.
At Innovative Minds Wonderschool, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.
About our program
Innovative Minds is a Montessori-inspired program that nurtures the curiosity of young children. The classes are mixed grade level, because children can learn from each other and can be taught by each other. The younger ones learn from the older ones, and the older ones become leaders. We support independence in our children. Children are very capable, we support and guide children rather than DO for them. We have defined work areas, such as tables, trays or mats for each individual child. Children learn to respect boundaries and one another. Children’s activities are referred to as “work” because work is purposeful activity. We support children to master high levels of focus and concentration by using self directed learning. We go on stroller walks, nature walks, and love bird watching.
