Our Teachers

My name is Graciela Puentes and I am currently a second grade teacher at Washoe County School District. I have been a teacher for 8 years teaching both 1st and 2nd grade. I have my teaching license and have taken many courses on early child development. I have four children of my own. Their ages are 16,13,8, and 4 years. I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico and consider Spanish as my first language. In our home, we have always encouraged our children to speak Spanish which has helped them be fluent in both English and Spanish.

Philosophy

At Arcoiris Bilingual Childcare, we focus on providing a safe and caring place for young minds to explore and grow. Our program follows a play-based philosophy that alllows children to explore in order to facillitate their learning in social, cognitive, and emotions skills. We also believe that language skills blossom at an early age and will be a strong predictor of later success in learning to read and write. At our school, we will incorporate Spanish in every aspect of our day. From arts and crafts to science and music, children will practice Spanish while they play.
