Our Teachers

Keenon & Irene Buchanan, Owner/Educator’s. We have 41 years of combined child experience with the Clark County School District. We have 11 children that we have raised to be upstanding citizens and want to instill some of the same love, care and great principles in children of our community.

Philosophy

The Philosophy at Perfecting Little Saints Day Care is play based, teaching the Creative Curriculum which includes developmentally appropriate goals and objectives for children within four main categories of interest: social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language. The social/emotional stage helps promote independence, self-confidence, and self-control. Within this stage, children learn how to make friends, how to have group interactions, and how to follow rules. The physical stage is intended to increase children’s large and small motor skills. The cognitive stage is associated with thinking skills. Children learn how to solve problems, ask questions, and think critically. The language stage deals with communication. Children learn how to communicate with others, listen and participate in conversations, and recognize various forms of alphabetical and numeric print. In this stage, children begin to recognize letters, numbers and words and begin writing with a purpose.

About our program

We believe children do well with a routine and learn best through play. It gives them a sense of security within their environment. Play is the way children make sense of their world and is the natural way to learn. We strive to provide an environment that encourages different kinds of play. Our program activities are based on individual needs and will include provider or child-initiated activities emphasized throughout the day. Circle time: cognitive development, language/literacy, music and movement. Child initiated activity: free play-large/fine motor skills, socialization, dramatic play manipulative, sensory play. Provider initiated activity: arts, crafts, dramatic play, math, science, field trips, sand/water play. Outside time: physical development, gross/fine motor skills, socialization, sensory play, science discovery.
