Darla Anderson, Director
Darla is a passionate and dedicated preschool teacher & mother who has been teaching young children for over 15 years as a certified teacher. She has always had a love for children & teaching. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Morgan State University, Baltimore, MD and began her teaching career as a Kindergarten teacher in Baltimore. Over the years, Darla has honed her skills as a teacher and has developed a teaching philosophy that centers on music, movement, art, and read-alouds. She believes that children learn best when they are engaged and excited about what they are learning. Darla is a firm believer in the power of play-based learning. She understands that young children learn best through hands-on experiences, and she incorporates a wide range of activities in her child care to cater to different learning styles. From sensory play to music and movement, Darla makes sure that her children are engaged and excited about learning.
Philosophy
At G.E.M. we believe that the keys to success are education, motivation, creativity, and inspiration. We believe that every child has a unique set of talents and abilities that need to be nurtured and developed in order to reach their full potential. Education is the foundation of everything we do at our child care. We provide a variety of learning opportunities that are designed to stimulate the mind and encourage a love of learning. Motivation is another key ingredient in our philosophy. We believe that children are naturally curious and motivated to learn, and our job is to provide them with the tools and resources they need to pursue their interests and passions.

With over 15 years of dedicated experience in Early Childhood Education, our program is built on a foundation of proven strategies and a deep understanding of young learners’ needs. I believe in nurturing the whole child, adapting teaching methods to support each child’s unique developmental journey and fostering a love of learning from an early age.
