Nikia Anderson – Founder & Lead Educator With over 20 years of experience in early childhood education, I have dedicated my career to creating high-quality learning environments where children thrive. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education Leadership, which has strengthened my ability to design developmentally appropriate curricula, mentor staff, and advocate for children and families in our community. My personal journey in early childhood education is guided by a commitment to fostering curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning in every child.
Philosophy
At Journey II Learning, the Reggio Emilia approach allows us to focus on the education of the whole child. We will provide a safe and nurturing environment that will promote a life-long love for learning. The key guiding principles of Journey II Learning is that children are capable of constructing their own learning through natural curiosity. Children are inspired by their own interest to know and learn. Children are collaborators and learn through interactions with others. Children are encouraged to use as many materials for discovery and teachers are responsible to facilitate the exploration of the child’s environment. The classroom acts as the third teacher. It is a critical component and the use of natural furnishings will encourage reallife interactions. Teachers will partner, nurture, and guide children’s exploration through short and long-term projects. Teachers are not planning projects or learning points in advance but allowing projects to emerge based on the interest of the children. Teachers are responsible for documenting the children learning process, through pictures, portfolios, quotes, or scripts. We believe that parents are partners in their child education. Parents play an active role in their child’s learning experience at Journey II Learning we recognize that parents are the child’s first teacher, both their skills and ideas are valuable to our program.
Location
Our childcare program is located in a warm, family‑oriented community in northwest Las Vegas (zip code 89108), on Riley Oaks Court — a peaceful cul‑de‑sac that offers a safe and welcoming environment for children. Residents describe it as a “quiet block” with friendly neighbors, where kids play, people walk their pets, and there is a true sense of belonging.
The neighborhood offers a mix of suburban calm while still being conveniently close to amenities, shopping, and major roads, making drop-off and pick-up easy for busy parents.
About our program
Child-Centered Approach: At Journey II Learning, children are at the heart of everything we do. Our program combines Reggio Emilia-inspired, faith-based, and play-based learning, creating experiences that nurture the whole child—socially, emotionally, spiritually, and academically.
Family Engagement: We believe families are essential partners in children’s learning. We host regular family events, celebrations, and monthly parent meetings that strengthen connections between home and school. From seasonal celebrations to parent-teacher gatherings, families are actively involved in our community.
Specialized Programs: Our curriculum offers specialized enrichment programs that support early literacy, STEM exploration, creative arts, and Spanish language learning. These experiences are designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and prepare children for school success.
We honor each child’s growth and achievements through classroom celebrations, holiday events, and milestone recognitions. These moments foster a sense of pride, belonging, and community for both children and families.
Experienced Educator: I am highly qualified and bring years of experience, professional training, and a shared passion for nurturing children’s growth. With developmentally appropriate practices and individualized attention, I ensure every child is supported and inspired to reach their full potential.
Safe, Nurturing Environment: Journey II Learning provides a warm, welcoming space where children feel valued, loved, and encouraged to explore, play, and learn.
