Anthony Rega

Anthony is the Director and Main Teacher at Little Minds. He holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and Is passionate about caring for and teaching children. Prior to this career field, Anthony was an Airman, Non-commissioned officer, and a Civilian in the United States Air Force. Anthony has also earned degrees in Business, Marketing, Human Resource Management, and Communication. Anthony considers himself I life-long student and hopes to instill that desire in your child.

Anthony is Certified in:

1. CPR and First Aid: With our CPR and first aid certification, you can trust that your little ones are in capable hands. In case of any emergencies, we’re trained to respond quickly and provide the necessary care. We understand the importance of being prepared, and that’s why we’ve made it a priority to be certified. Rest assured, we’re here to keep your children safe and secure.

2. Early Childhood Education: Our team is proud to have a degree in early childhood education, ensuring that your child receives the best possible start in their educational journey. With our expertise, we create a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes growth, development, and a love for learning.

3. Childcare Licensing: We are proud to be a licensed child care facility, meeting all the necessary regulations and standards. Mercedes Albert

Mercedes has two years of experience working in the childcare industry. A mother to a newborn and a school-aged child herself, Mercedes is naturally attentive to the needs of your children as well. Mercedes is currently working on her degree for Early Childhood Education and is a main provider at Little Minds. Mercedes’s hobbies include creative arts and attending the many sports games her son participates in.

We were fed up with our previous daycare center and started to look for something better for our son. We found Little Minds Home Daycare and have loved it from the day he started! We have seen such a difference and so much growth in him. His previous daycare was not assisting with starting to help potty train and within a month of him starting Little Minds he was pretty much potty trained! Kristen and Tony love our boy like he was theirs it’s amazing to see. They are so involved in all the kids learning and development and the kids have so much fun while they are there! After taking our daughters out of Tree house and moved to this wonderful home daycare we noticed the first day how our daughters seemed so much happier not fighting us to go to daycare. My oldest wakes up and ask to get ready to go. She loves it I think the home setting is such a better place. They do a wonderful job each and every day at taking care of the kiddos. My oldest used to come home every day with bumps and bruises from Tree house, here at little minds she doesn’t she goes to day care and she is well taken care of. I feel as if we are blessed truly to get this opportunity to meet and have our kids attend this day care. This Home day care is a great choice for your littles! My husband and I can already see an improvement in both of our girls demeanor and our daughters have only been attending here for a few months now. Prior to Little Minds daycare our toddler was crying everyday at drop off. She would tell us she didn’t want to go to daycare. She was having multiple tantrums due to overstimulation. Since moving to Little Minds Home Daycare our daughter is able to voice her emotions and is happy at drop off! She often tells us about how much she loves attending here! Our baby was only 3 months when she started here. Her personality has also blossomed since attending! She was only at the prior daycare for 1 month. At pickups our daughter would be sighing, as if she were crying all day while she was there. As parents it’s hard to see your little one like that, especially when you have no choice but to have your children in daycare. Since attending Little Minds Home daycare, our infant is always being picked up with a smile. Kristen and Anthony are very family oriented! They are great with our girls! Little Minds Home Daycare was truly a blessing for both me and my autistic three-year-old daughter. As a single mother of three, moving to a new town where I knew no one was overwhelming. After asking for recommendations in local Facebook groups, several people mentioned Little Minds Home Daycare. From the moment I stepped into their home, I immediately felt a sense of comfort, peace, and genuine care for my child.

My daughter is nonverbal and autistic, and she has always been very hesitant around new people and environments. Within just a short time of being with Kristen and Anthony, I began seeing incredible changes in her. She started interacting with others, trying foods she would have never eaten before, and learning and growing in ways I once feared might never come.

Anthony’s patience, kindness, and understanding with her are truly unmatched.

The love, time, and dedication they poured into my child is something I will never be able to thank them enough for.

As a parent of a special needs child, one of the greatest fears is whether your child will be safe, understood, and cared for when they cannot fully communicate their needs. Kristen and Anthony gave me that peace of mind every single day.

They provided constant updates, engaged her in arts and crafts, encouraged her growth, and most importantly, never tried to force her to be “normal.” They embraced her exactly as she is.

As both a single parent and a mother of a special needs child, I cannot recommend a daycare more highly.

We absolutely adore this daycare! Moving our son from a traditional daycare to this home daycare was truly life-changing — especially when it comes to his health. At his previous big daycare, he was constantly sick (26 times in one year — yes, I counted!), but since starting here in February 2025, he’s only been sick twice. It’s been such a blessing!

We are also constantly amazed by the new things he learns every day. At just two years old, he already knows his ABCs, all his colors, lots of shapes, and can count to 10! Sometimes he doesn’t even want to leave when it’s time for pick-up, which says so much about how happy he is here.

I know in-home daycares can feel a little scary at first, but I promise you won’t regret choosing this one. Our son is so safe, happy, and loved here. You can truly tell that Anthony and Kristen (and their kids) care deeply for our little one and his well-being. We also appreciate the constant updates about him throughout the day — it gives us such peace of mind.

We took our 2 year old grandson out of his previous daycare as we began to search for a place that would give him more one on one time and more opportunities for growth at his age.

He has been with “Uncle Tony” (Anthony) now for three months and the difference in how our grandson speaks, his ability to carry on a conversation and the things he learns is night and day. We have enjoyed watching him grow day by day and he absolutely loves going to daycare.

Previously we had to literally peel him off to get him into the classroom. Now he is always excited about “going to school”.

Little Minds Home Daycare is located at 905 W. 17th Lane in a quiet residential neighborhood in northwest Portales. Our home is just a short walk from Rotary Park, where children enjoy age-appropriate outdoor play and exploration. We are also conveniently located near Brown Early Childhood Center, James Elementary School, and Valencia Elementary School, making our program a great choice for local families. Our neighborhood has low traffic and provides a safe, peaceful setting where children can learn, play, and grow in a home environment while remaining easily accessible from anywhere in Portales.

Little Minds Daycare is a Family Child Care Group Home licensed under NMAC 8.16.2.31. We are authorized to care for up to 12 children at one time. Our childcare providers and volunteers have undergone extensive criminal background record checks. This thorough investigation includes fingerprints, employment history, and all criminal records.

Our home undergoes an annual fire investigation by the Roosevelt County Fire Marshal to ensure that our home meets the requirements as outlined in 8.8.3 NMAC. Our home is Zoned and approved by Roosevelt Court Plans/Zoning Officer. Finally, our home receives semi-annual and periodic (random) inspections from our licensing authority.
