Our Teachers

Katie Fields, Owner

Katie graduated from Central Community College in 2022 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Katie also completed The Pyramid Module in 2020. This is a program that helps providers promote young children’s healthy social and emotional development. Katie has been working with children for almost 20 years! She has worked with children ages infant to school age. Most of her time has been spent with children teaching preschool. Katie loves building relationships and connections with the children she works with. She loves to see them grow, learn, and make build friendships with peers. Above all, Katie loves to make memories with the children that will carry along with them for years to come.

Philosophy

I believes in celebrating each child for who they are and for all their unique qualities. I believes that all children learn and develop differently. I will meet each child where they are developmentally and help them grow and learn. I believe in hands on activities and learning through play. I want children to explore and try new activities. You will not find a worksheet or coloring sheet in her home. I believe in giving children a blank slate to be creative and express themselves. Doing hands on activities helps to strengthen their fine motor skills, their pencil grip, and hand-eye coordination.

Something else that I feel strongly about, is not giving time-outs. I feel that it is my job and responsibility to teach these children and be a role model for them. I believe in 3 strikes when in my care. I will redirect their behavior each time and also model for them how I want them to change their choice. If I get to strike 3, then I will ask the child to try a different activity until they feel they can make a better choice and return to the activity they were doing.

I feel strongly about teaching children about their emotions. We will have a check-in emotion board, a calm down area, we will use a social story called, “Tucker Turtle Takes Time To Tuck and Think”, a problem solving kit, and a fix it kit. Our calm down are is a space for 1 child at a time. This space is for children to use anytime they need to. This space is set up to help children self regulate. children do not need to ask to use this area. Children can use this space when they’re tired, mad, sad, need a break from activities, or just want space. In this space, their will be books on emotions, sensory bottles, pictures of emotions and a mirror for them to look at what emotion their face is telling them they might be feeling.

About our program

What makes my program unique, is that I give the experiences of a center in the comfort of my home. I want to give the children in my care every opportunity to explore, grow, and learn. To build them up that they can be and do anything! Above all, children will feel safe, loved, and cared for when they’re in my home. My home will feel like a second home when they’re at my home.

I would also love to offer family nights. These will help strengthen and build relationships. Family nights will consist of BBQ and games in the back yard, Friendsgiving around thanksgiving, cookie decorating around Christmas, and so many more. I also believe in celebrating moments. So, we will have special fun that will consist of crazy hair day, PJ day, hat day, etc. We like to have fun in our house and celebrate moments big and small!
