HI! My name is Liz Arnold owner/operator of Just Like Mine Daycare in Lincoln Nebraska’s Belmont area. I am married to my high school sweetheart Dave and we have 5 kids Aidan 22, Zoe 21, Colleen 20, Korbin 17, and Vivian 14. We have a boxer/lab/golden mix named Leia who absolutely loves all people , squirrels, and her daycare family. Mister Princess Gracie is our cat who spends his time exploring outside or napping in my room.
I have operated out of my home since November 2009 and have a dedicated daycare room for your kids to enjoy. I completed over 115 training hours this year to improve the quality of my business. I have finished all 42 hours of training across 7 early learning areas including math, science, approaches to learning, language and literacy, health and physical development, social and emotional development, and creative arts. I completed Go NAPSAC which is a specialized nutrition and physical education program for early childhood professionals. I have also taken two business courses and several environmental classes. I have a deep love for the outdoors and am working towards a certified nature explore classroom.
In my childcare center we play outside in all kinds of weather with a goal to spend 1000 hours outside during each year. I have a “no screen-time” policy and kids spend their time here with hands on activities, adventures, and play. I loosely use a couple environmental based curriculums including Project Learning Tree and Growing Up Wild. I actively seek out appropriate supplemental materials and strive to enrich learning naturally through play. I am able to support children‘s interest and maximize potential by following their paths and not my own or a workbook.
I participate in CACFP, the federal food program, which helps to provide healthy meals to growing bodies. I am a member of several childcare organizations which helps me be the best provider possible for your kids. I also value continuing education and far exceed annual requirements. As the world is ever changing and education forever evolving it is important to me and your child’s development to stay current with after hours training and experiences.
I love children and watching the wonder of earthworms, butterflies, and rain from their perspective on a daily basis. I enjoy silly dance contests, clouds spotting, tree climbing, and crazy races. I consider it a privilege to be able to spend my days looking at life through the eyes of children.

Philosophy
I believe that each child is a natural born learner, honoring their individual abilities and passions, and embracing the path they project. I nurture creativity, curiosity, and a love for nature, fostering wonder and empowerment.
In line with John Taylor Gatto’s words, I aim to front-load experiences for children in their formative years. We engage in various activities like exploring parks, museums, and attending dance classes or swim lessons. I encourage outdoor play and hands-on learning, offering enrichment activities such as visits to local attractions and engaging in seasonal adventures.
Following Magda Gerber’s philosophy, I prioritize being present for the children in my care. From babywearing to parallel play, I watch, teach, and love them wholeheartedly. I create a nurturing environment where children feel loved and accepted, enabling them to explore their true selves and their place in the world.
Inspired by Maria Montessori, I believe in instilling a sense of responsibility and independence in children. I provide opportunities for children to contribute and learn through tasks like clearing up toys, putting on shoes independently, and laying out sleeping mats. I encourage their self-discovery and growth by offering support when needed and fostering a sense of belief in their abilities.
