Our Teachers
Ashley Smith has been here at Busy Buddies for 6 years! She’s the muscle that gets things done! Her work ethic is beyond her generation. She loves the kids so much she added one of her own. We love having her here full time and her son!
Hope Buescher has been with Busy Buddies for over 4 years. She is fascinated with how the brain develops and loves watching it in the children. This makes her great at troubleshooting, problem solving, and creating bonds with each child. She loves this aspect so much, she added it to her studies at UNO.
I, Shanda Carey started watching children when my husband Dan, and I started our own family, 15 years ago. I’m a driven, motivated, and goal oriented person who’s always interested in becoming better. So Buddies grew from watching friends’ children to what it is today! I describe us as operating like a small center, but in my home.
About our program
At Busy Buddies, we know what its like to work full time and have our own kids to take care of at the end of the day. So we keep them busy all day! We’re either outside, on an outing, or engaged in preschool. This busyness also gives us a multitude of opportunities to teach life skills, assist physical development, and support cognitive development.
Busyness schedule:
Mondays: Lost In Fun
Tuesdays: Children’s Zoo
Wednesdays: Messy day at the house (painting crafts and pasta for lunch)
Thursdays: Children’s Museum
Fridays: Lost In Fun
I also believe in school readiness. We teach preschool using literacy as our base. We incorporate other themes depending on the month/season/holiday to supplement the lesson plan. I use pieces of different curriculums as well as add my own.
Not only is learning important, but proper etiquette while learning is important. Learning is hard enough! Life skills like completing tasks, following directions, problem solving, doing your best, and self regulation are practiced and practiced and practiced.
