Our Teachers

Hello! My name is Michelle Rasmussen. I am the owner and teacher at Lighthouse Preschool. Early Childhood Education has always been a passion of mine. I attended college at Metro Community College and earned my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education then I attended Peru State College and earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. While putting myself through school I continued to work in different Early Childhood Programs here in the Omaha area.

Even though I enjoyed my time student teaching in an Elementary School setting, my heart is and will always be working with preschool age children and younger.

While teaching at a Head Start program, I found out that I was expecting our first child.  I couldn’t imagine having to leave our daughter at an early childhood program while I went to another program across town to work every day. When I was 6 months pregnant, we found the perfect house where I could open Lighthouse Preschool. When our daughter was 3 months old, I enrolled our first family and I have not looked back since. This has been a perfect fit for this stage of life. I get so spend my days with my own children while doing the job that I love.

Step Up to Quality is a voluntary program that licensed child care programs, preschools and Head Start programs can join to implement best practices in their program and improve quality.

We are the 20th program in the State of Nebraska to receive this STEP 5 rating!

2. Tour our program

Come see what makes Lighthouse Preschool unique. If we currently have openings, you can contact us at [email protected] to schedule a tour during the weekday 5:30pm or later.

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application at www.wonderschool.com/lighthouse-preschool-8528/apply – note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.
