Our Teachers

When I started 28 years ago, I had no formal experience in early childhood education, but I was a mom to two small children, and I thought, “I can do childcare.” However, once I began working with children, I quickly realized I needed to learn more. That’s when I enrolled in community college for an introduction to Child Development course, and it completely opened my eyes. It helped me understand the depth and importance of early childhood education, and I fell in love with the field.

My passion for ECE (Early Childhood Education) and for my work grew as I learned more, not just for the children I care for but also for my own children. I completed my Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, knowing that knowledge is power and that it makes working with children easier and more meaningful.

As a family childcare provider, I understand that growth can feel limited in this setting, but I believe in fostering an environment of growth and continuous learning. I expect and encourage my staff to grow, and they do. Many of my teachers have been with me for years, and it has been incredibly satisfying to watch them thrive and develop their careers. All of my staff members hold their CDA (Child Development Associate) credentials, and one is working on her Associate’s degree while another has already earned her BA and is now working on her teacher certification.

I am also proud to be nationally accredited with the NAFCC (National Association for Family Child Care), which reflects my commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care and education.

Philosophy

At our center, we follow a curriculum that combines Creative Curriculum with a play-based Montessori approach. We believe in allowing children the autonomy to explore, make choices, and learn through their own experiences. This philosophy extends to our outdoor nature-based classroom, where we provide a variety of hands-on learning opportunities.

In our outdoor space, children engage in activities like art, music, gardening, dramatic play, sensory exploration, building with blocks, and gross motor activities. These experiences not only support their cognitive and emotional development but also foster creativity, problem-solving, and physical growth.

We are committed to creating an environment where children can thrive by exploring, discovering, and learning at their own pace while nurturing a love for learning and the world around them.

Location

Our location is ideal for families and working parents who rely on public transportation. We are conveniently located directly on a bus line and just down the street from the Hanley Rd Metrolink Station, making it easy for commuters to access our center.

For those driving, we are also perfectly situated off of three major highways—70, 170, and 270—just 1-2 minutes from each. This makes us a convenient choice for parents on the go, providing quick and easy access for drop-off and pick-up.

About our program

At Our Daycare & Learning Center, our program is not just about childcare; it’s about family care. We understand that every family has unique needs, and we are committed to supporting the entire family unit.

We provide individualized care for each child, and we partner closely with parents to ensure that their children receive the support they need, especially when it comes to special care or developmental concerns. If a child needs additional help, we work with parents to navigate available resources and offer guidance on how to access services, whether within our program or at home.

In addition to childcare, we are dedicated to helping families with basic needs. We assist parents in connecting with services for food, utilities, and medical support, ensuring that families have the resources they need to thrive.

We also host quarterly Family Engagement events to build a stronger sense of community and connection. These include events like the Spring Fling Playground Clean-Up, Family Fall Festival, and Parent Workshops at the start of the year.

Strengthening families is one of our core values, and it’s something we pride ourselves on here at Our Daycare & Learning Center. We believe that by supporting families in every aspect, we create a foundation for children to grow and succeed.
