Andrea J. Orwig, Owner/Director I have over 28 years of experience in childcare. With 7 years of experience in running a childcare center. I have Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate Credential. I was also lucky enough to work for Community Action Agency where I was a Family Advocate and eared Family Development Credential from University of Connecticut.
Philosophy
We believe the early years are important to ready children emotionally for the life long process of learning.
We believe in supporting the development and growth of the whole child including Cognitive (thinking), Physical (moving), and Social & Emotional (self & language) development.
We believe play is the foundation for children’s learning and the physical environment must include child-sized materials on low open shelves that invite children to explore, question and reflect.
We believe a child’s physical well-being and creative thinking need a balance of teacher-directed, free-choice play and daily outdoor play activities. We incorporate the Frog Street and AEPS-3 Program providing ideas with emphasis on a child’s individual needs.
We believe families are the core educators and their involvement brings the home and childcare center together to assist children in learning family cultures, values and traditions.
We believe to ensure quality childcare, we like every staff to complete an education of at least a CDA or more in the Early Childhood field with strong support given to complete an Associate or Bachelor Degree.
Location
We are located near the Hospital; we share space with one of Kirksville City Parks; JC Park. Our playground is fenced in on the JC Park grounds. We share a building with ATSU and our on the left side of the building.
