Our Teachers

Mandi Ehrenberg, Director & Lead Teacher

Miss Ehrenberg grew up in Wisconsin, where her family still lives. She graduated from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota in 2006 with her Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education. After graduation, she was the director/lead teacher of St. Thomas Preschool in Goodyear, Arizona for 4 years. She joined the St. Paul family in 2010 as the director and lead teacher of the preschool. She also works with our WELS synod as the Early Childhood Director for the Michigan District. Miss Ehrenberg has a niece and nephew she adores, and two naughty cats. Her favorite color is green, coffee helps her get through the day, and she has a friendly rivalry with Mrs. Mitchell over which team is better: the Bears or the Packers! Go Pack Go!

Mrs. Jill Mitchell, Morning Aide

Mrs. Mitchell is married to Scott and they have two sons who attend Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. Mrs. Mitchell attended St. Paul’s as student through 8th grade, and she has been an aide here for the past 12 years. What a blessing to still have Mrs. Mitchell as a part of the St. Paul family! Bear down, Chicago Bears!

Philosophy

In our classroom this year, we will be working to help your child become an independent, responsible member of a group. We will focus on calm conflict resolution and positive social interactions. Our curriculum will include music (singing and instrumental), movement, reading, calendar, weather, and work time. Our main goal as educators is to provide a safe environment in which your child can thrive and grow. The type of curriculum we use is called “High/Scope”. This is a curriculum that is child-centered and encourages children to learn through their own exploration, questions, and initiation. In preschool, children learn through their play many skills that are needed before kindergarten. Playtime is their “work”. When children are put in an active learning situation, the enjoyment of learning thrives within them and their whole being is stronger and more confident.
A child’s education does not just involve the teacher. Everyone in a child’s life must work together to give them a stable, secure learning environment in which their ideas and discoveries can be explored and refined. As parents, you are the most important and influential teacher. As educators we need to work together to give your child the best and most beneficial education experience they can get.

Location

St. Paul Preschool is located in the beautiful town of South Haven. We are conveniently located right off one of the main roads through town, LaGrange St. We are right across the street from South Haven High School, and directly North of McDonalds. The preschool classroom is located on the West end of the building, closest to LaGrange St, with our classroom doors being right past the preschool playground.
