My name is Katherine Figueroa Director of KFG Childcare - Heaven’s care. Me and my family moved from Puerto Rico 5 years ago after hurricane Maria, looking for some better opportunities as a professional and as a new parents. Thanks God our families did not suffer lethal damages but the island was on a very difficult situation. We were very well welcome at Grand Rapids, MI and meet awesome families. Four years ago I decided to start taking care of Grand Rapids community children, 2 years ago my husband start working with me and by now we can say this have been the best decision. With a Hotel administration bachelor degree I never thought of working in the area of early childhood education ,but with this administrative knowledge and Great start to quality guidance and tools me and my amazing assistant have had a wonderful experience in this area, learning everyday from kids, families and continuous studies and trainings. Because we are never done learning. We as a childcare providers believe that in a safe, healthy and loved place where children feel safe, where they can communicate their feelings and be listened for the person who cares for them every day is very important to start an adequate development.
Philosophy
We believe children should develop their childhood by learning and having fun in a place where they feel accepted and loved. In KFG Child Care love, patience and understanding are the key to working with children.
Praise and positive reinforcement are effective methods of behavior management of children. When children receive positive, nonviolent, and understanding interactions from adults and others, they develop good self-concepts, problem solving abilities, and self-discipline.
