Philosophy

It is our goal for the children to have a safe, loving, and nurturing environment. Children learn best by doing. Children learn through hands-on experiences and getting dirty. Children need to feel that this program is a home away from home atmosphere. Learning is about having a fun time; it opens the mind in many ways.

Location

We are located just North of downtown Kalamazoo. About four blocks away from the bus line unfortunately the bus only runs once an hour to Parchment. Parks are just down in town but we have prided ourselves in making a wonderful place for the children to play and learn here on our large property.

About our program

This program strives to specialize in the care for THREE and under. This is why the Provider “limits” the number of children over 36 months. As well as the fact that children in our program learn and grow from the moment, they enter our doors at a regular or accelerated rate. We believe that children over four that have been with us since birth may find the program limiting. This in turn and with all the “school system programs,” when your child turns FOUR years old, the provider reserves the right to help the parents determine if our Four-year-old Preschool program is the best one for your child. The provider will help with the placement of your child in the best program possible for your child after they leave Tams Sunshine House if the parent wishes. Not because we do not love and care about your child, but because we are looking out for the best interest of your child’s success in education. Unless it has been “pre-arranged” for your child to remain in the program for one of the following: (but not limited to) the child is in the same school district as the provider; evening care; weekend care is being provided.
