Our Teachers

My name is Dorene Loggins-Hodges, and I come from a very large family with 17 siblings, a mother of three (3) adults children, two (2) adult grandchildren, and four (4) great-grandchildren. Therefore, I have over 45+ years of experience caring for and nurturing young children.

I have an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development and have worked for various schools as a Noon-Hour Aide and a Paraprofessional for PreK. I have a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, and seeking to earn my Masters Degree in Early Childhood in 2024.

Philosophy

At There Was An Old Lady Early Childhood Development Center, we teach the children exploration via play and nature based curriculum. However, we also focus on preparing and developing your child for Kindergarten Readiness via social, physical, emotional, cognitive, and language skills. Skills that our students can use not just at our center but throughout their educational journey and into adulthood.

Location

We located on the Eastside of Detroit in the Morningside Block Club area.

About our program

We’re a small Family Child Care Day Care that specializes and model a Home-Style setting for your little one! Modeling and teaching your child by demonstrating manners to be kind, courteous, helpful, honest, and respectful to self and others. Teaching your little one is an investment for our future leaders of tomorrow.
