Our Teachers

Ms. Tolice is a highly experienced and dedicated early childhood educator who has been working with children for over 10 years. Her journey began as a lunch aide at a local private school, where she quickly realized her passion for working with young minds. As she continued to gain experience, she set her sights on teaching at Head Start, but fate had a different plan for her. Ms. Tolice started a successful latchkey child transportation service, which only solidified her desire to continue serving families in her community.

Inspired by her mother’s home-based childcare program, Ms. Tolice decided to open her own childcare program. She firmly believes in the power of play-based learning and finds joy in seeing children grow and develop through hands-on exploration. Not only is she a certified nursing assistant with 18 years of experience, but she is also certified in CPR, First Aid, and Infant Safe Sleep. With her extensive knowledge and genuine love for children, Ms. Tolice is truly a remarkable home-based early childhood educator.

Philosophy

A program that follows the play-based philosophy in an early childhood program embraces the idea that children learn best through play. Play-based learning is an approach that allows children to engage in activities that are enjoyable and meaningful to them, while also promoting their development and learning. In this program, children participate in activities such as building with blocks and engaging in art activities, which allow them to explore their creativity and problem-solving skills. The toys found in the program are designed to invite children to engage in open-ended play, where they can use their imagination and create their own narratives.

Ms. Tolice, the teacher in this program, encourages children to independently play and learn on their own, while also offering guidance and assistance as children seek it out. Additionally, play-based learning takes place both indoors and outdoors to provide children with opportunities to explore different environments and expand their knowledge and understanding of the world around them.

About our program

Ms. Tolice’s home-based childcare program is a nurturing and enriching environment for children. With a small group of just six children, each child receives individualized attention and care. The program’s main focus is on building social skills through a variety of activities that make learning fun. Children will have the opportunity to explore and connect with nature, spending ample time outdoors. Additionally, the program ensures that children are well-prepared for their next steps and are set up for success in all aspects of their development. From foundational academic skills to crucial social skills, Ms. Tolice’s program aims to develop the whole child. Open communication with families is a priority, as the program believes in working together to support children and create a home away from home experience filled with play and love. For added convenience, transportation services are also available to families.
