Our Teachers

Denise Lewis, Director

I graduated from Wayne County Community College in 2007 with an Associate Degree and Currently working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education ( ECE). I had a large number of siblings, relatives, and younger family members that I cared for and /or babysit for in the past 25 years and I enjoyed caring for them. Also, I have experience as a License-Exempt provider, I have always felt comfortable and confident working with children and I enjoyed time spent with them and motivated to help the children. I believe that having small classes and a low ratio of children to teachers helps me and the team to get to know each child as individuals while developing relationships with the child and their parents.

Philosophy

At STARLIGHT, we emphasize a play-based child care approach that incorporates the most current research-based strategies for child development and early childhood education. Our philosophy also focuses on creating a nurturing and safe environment where children receive personalized care and attention. We aim to provide a secure, educational, and enjoyable experience for children while supporting parents in feeling confident about their child’s well-being. Additionally, we collaborate closely with the Child Development and Care program (CDC) to assist low-income families in accessing quality child care services.

Location

We’re in the Sinai Grace area neighborhood nearby. W. Mc.Nichols between Hubble and Schaefer. We are a few blocks from the park and have easy access to transit. We are near the Lodge Freeway and Southfield Freeway.
