It’s a place where children can thrive and receive the care and guidance that combines learning with play and nutritious meals. She cultivates an environment where children feel safe, loved, and empowered to explore the world around them.
That was nearly twenty years ago. Since then, Yolanda has expanded her certifications, expertise, and business to dedicate her life to caring for children ages six weeks to five years. Now, a seasoned childcare expert, Yolanda has a proven track record of preparing children with the essential knowledge and skills they need to feel comfortable and ready to enter school.

To whom this may concern: My daughter Rhyder started attending Hooked on Books Daycare with Yolanda Massey and Ms.Scott in 2022 when she was 2 years old. We spent several months researching daycare centers when our first meeting with Hooked on Books turned to be the best fit. Since our daughter was fairly young and having trouble learning to speak words, our thought was to have somewhere that could help with this, along with being around other kids as well. Along with her speech, learning motor skills, moral values and even potty training made all the difference with Hooked on Books focus on early education and learning. While daycare shouldn’t be the sole reason for upbringing children as parents should play the major role, Hooked on Books really respected our values and wishes when it came to Rhyders progress. Certainly helped her learn to use the potty, cleaning up after herself, manners while eating, good nutrition and educational learning really made major difference in her upbringing. can’t be more pleased in how our daughter has progressed. In 2023 she started weekly speech therapy with a license SP and with this and daily interactions with Mrs. Massey and Mrs.Scott, her speech has significantly gotten better weekly. The various interactions, educational activities such as learned play, reading, writing, responsibilities with the garden and everything in between gave such a profound and well rounded learning experience for Rhyder. Daily and weekly progress reports have shown since her starting From starting 2 years ago, at that time she could her ability to speak more clearly, identify colors and number and even learning to write to name afew things.The routines and activities they follow give a great structured and safe learning experience that I don’t think we could ever get with any other Daycare. Not just in my opinion but from my observation of my daughter’s progress, Hooked on Books gives far more than simply watching her but teaching her. only say a couple of words, was still learning to use the bathroom and wasn’t cleaning up after herself, to now where she is able to say far more words, sentences, use the bathroom, clean up after herself and help others kids to name a few. From starting 2 years ago, at that time she could progress has been exceptional. Far more than just watching kids as the educational and engaging aspect is so critical as these ages to learn, that value is worth so much more.The facility is well designed for kids of various ages and learning levels. And Books, interactive toys and activities, safe outdoor play area and even a garden that helps teach the kids responsibility and learning different things. Philosophy
The first five years of a child’s life are crucial for their development, as nearly 90% of their brain develops during this period. That’s why we go beyond providing the typical daycare services and provide the foundation for socialization and life learning skills.
Location
We are located in a commercial and residential neighborhood. Access to public bus stops and neighborhood businesses. There is private outdoor play space for the children to ride tricycles, outdoor slides and playhouse along with sand box and soccer net.
About our program
Yolanda Massey founded Hooked on Books Childcare a few years after she experienced a life-altering car accident. During her recovery, Yolanda found joy in taking care of and teaching her nieces and nephews practical life skills. She taught them key school preparedness before they began kindergarten and was able to witness how engaging children in practical activities and encouraging their natural curiosity sparked their love for learning that would effect their future success. She discovered a deep passion for nurturing young minds that would change the trajectory of her life.
