Our Teachers

Hello! I am Dorothy Williams, the founder of Dottie’s Family Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 13 years of experience working with young children in a home family program. Prior to that I had dedicated my life to helping and advocating for children in the Boston area.

Philosophy

At Dotties Family childcare, we, as early childhood educators are committed to the enrichment and fostering of all children. Our goal is to provide outstanding service to all that we serve, with respect and support from the families and community we serve. We will ensure thet all of our educational goals are developmentally appropriate for all. Allowing the children we serve to thrive with compassion and understanding.

Location

Dottie’s Family Childcare Inc is located in a bright, spacious single family home in the Grove Hall neighborhood.

Children will have some outdoor time everyday at a Holborn Street Tot Lot. Children need space to run, jump, and move!

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), nature area (for discovering nature and science concepts), and reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite).

About our program

Our program follows a play-based philosophy with a Montessori inspiration.

We believe children learn social, cognitive, and emotional skills through new experiences. Our environment is responsive to the children in our care, and allows children’s own interests to facilitate their learning and engagement.

We believe in providing natural, wooden toys whenever possible that allow for open-ended and creative play. We also create DIY project to stretch the imagination of the children.

We are a mixed-age program and ensure that our teaching and care is catered to the different ages and needs of each child.

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application at www.wonderschool.com/dottie-s-family-childcare-inc-5687/apply – Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
