Our Teachers
My name is Shaz and I am the Program Director at Montessori Preschool.
I have been an educator for over 25 years, and have taught children from 12 months of age to 18. I have a good understanding of how children learn best and how to bring out each child’s creativity. I have a Bachelors degree (Education), a Masters (Language Acquisition) and I am Montessori certified.
I am passionate about child-driven learning and because I have a good understanding of child cognitive development, I am able to meet the needs of each child individually.

Philosophy
At our Montessori Preschool we offer children many ways to grow and discover the world. We provide materials that are open-ended and engaging. Our program is driven by the interests of each child so our curriculum is personalized and challenging.
Our monthly units consist of stories, art, language, math, and movement activities that are developed by the children’s questions. We observe the learning taking place and document learning with a Personal Portfolio which includes samples of work, photos, objects and teacher observations.
Location
Just 2 blocks from the #7 train in Jackson Heights, our location is convenient for drop-off and with great parks nearby, there are lots of opportunities for safe outdoor play.
About our program
Our Montessori Preschool is unique because we blend Inquiry-based learning with many of the Montessori methods to help children understand the world.
