Our Teachers

Brittany Jackson, Director Brittany graduated from Ivy Tech Community College with her CDA certificate of Early Childhood Education. She is furthering her degree in Early Childhood Education. She has extensive experience in early childhood education, particularly through running her own in-home daycare and preschool program. Over the years, she has developed and implemented engaging, age-appropriate curricula that foster learning through play, creativity, and hands-on exploration. Her program emphasizes foundational skills such as language development, early literacy, number sense, and social-emotional growth, all within a nurturing and structured environment. By tailoring activities to individual developmental needs and incorporating themed lessons, she helps young children build confidence, curiosity, and a love for learning. Her experience has deepened her understanding of child development and strengthened her commitment to creating positive, enriching early learning experiences.

Melissa Thomas, Volunteer Staff Member Melissa has been a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer staff member in our early childhood education program, bringing warmth, patience, and a genuine love for working with young children. Through her time supporting our in-home daycare and preschool, she has gained valuable hands-on experience in guiding children through structured activities, assisting with learning centers, and encouraging positive social interactions. She consistently demonstrates a strong understanding of child development and contributes to a nurturing, engaging learning environment. Her willingness to step in wherever needed, from preparing materials to supporting behavior management, makes her an invaluable part of our team and a positive role model for the children.

Philosophy

At my home daycare, I believe that young children learn best through hands-on experiences that engage their senses, spark curiosity, and encourage exploration. I am committed to creating an environment where children can actively participate in their own learning through play, experimentation, and meaningful activities. Whether they are building with blocks, planting seeds, exploring textures, or participating in art and science projects, children are developing critical thinking skills, fine motor abilities, and a lifelong love of learning.

Hands-on learning in my program is child-centered, developmentally appropriate, and designed to nurture each child’s individual interests and strengths. I aim to provide opportunities that support social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth, while fostering independence, creativity, and confidence. By guiding children through discovery and inquiry rather than direct instruction alone, I help them build a strong foundation for future learning in a warm, nurturing, and supportive home environment.
