Our Teachers
We have been fortunate in having a core of devoted staff. Our Lead teachers all have a minimum of a CDA (Child Development Associate Certificate) and several have gone on to work towards an Associate’s degree in early childhood education through a TEACH scholarship that we are privileged to help sponsor. Our teachers all have CPR & First aid training in addition to 24 hours of in-service training that is updated each year.
We also work with a local vocational school serving 11 school districts in providing an early childhood lab school for their Early Childhood program. Ensuring that any 2-year program participant will graduate high school with their CDA credential and be ready to continue providing quality early learning for our youngest learners.
Philosophy
Adventures Child Care & Learning Center is intent on providing the best possible care and education for every child in our facility and to be a dependable support system for our families. We will provide a safe, caring, fun and educational environment at all times and will work to advocate the best for all children within our community
Children are our future. As children learn and grow, we too, must learn and grow with them so that we provide all our children with opportunities to secure a firm foundation that will be with them for the rest of their lives. As Early Childhood Professionals, we know that that birth to 5 years of age is the most critical and rapid time for brain development in a human’s life and builds the foundation for a child’s entire life. We often hear how adults want to provide positive learning experiences to children so that those children are “ready for school.” Early learning is more than just “getting ready for school,” it is preparing children for school and beyond. In order for children to feel free to grow and learn, we have to provide them with opportunities to explore, to ask questions, problem solve and to be creative.
Children learn best through PLAY BASED, CHILD CENTERED experiences. We must provide the
environment to optimize each child’s learning potential. Opportunities for learning should not be based upon
memorization of meaningless, to them, adult concepts, but on developing skills for positive lifelong learning.
We need to go beyond basic concepts like memorization ABC’s and 123’s, which in many cases have little
meaning to a child, and help them to grasp the meaning of concepts of what we have intentionally placed in
their environment. We need to set the foundations for success, not just a head start the first couple of years of
school, but provide the foundations for continued learning all through their school years and throughout their
lives.

About our program
Thank you so much for your interest in Adventures Child Care & Learning Center. We are located in Greenwood, Indiana at State Road 37 and Fair View Road. We have been established since 1995 under the same owner as the day we opened. Our facility is situates on 1.6 mature acres with a fenced in play yard for the kids. Over the past twenty plus years, Adventures has acquired many tools, resources, and practices that have helped it to stand out as a quality child care center.
We accept children from ages 6 weeks until their 13th birthday. We are open from 6 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday. We are a level 4 center in the Paths to Quality system. Adventures has voluntarily chosen to take part in Indiana’s Quality Rating System known as Paths to QUALITY. Adventures was the first center providers in Johnson County that reached a Level 4 (out of 4) status. We are Nationally Accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). We have reached the highest level as part of Paths to QUALITY.
During its over twenty years of existence, Adventures has created its own curriculum to meet the needs of the children and families we service. Our Director has a Master’s Degree in Education, a Master Teacher Certificate in Early Childhood Education, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Exceptional Needs. The Director works with all staff to create Developmentally Appropriate lessons and activities to fulfill the needs of each class and specific child. Our lesson plans are coordinated with the Foundations to the Indiana Academic Standards for children birth to age 5. Our teachers create their own curriculum that reflects the interest and goals (both developmental and academic) of the children in their class. Our teachers maintain portfolios on all of their students that allow them to track a child’s development through our program. We also complete developmental and academic progress reports twice a year on each child in our program and offer an opportunity for parent-teacher conferences at those times.
Our number one goal at Adventures is to provide a fun, safe, and encouraging environment so that all children who come in our doors know that they are loved and their parents know that they will receive a fun, quality education that prepares children for future success in school and in life.
