Philosophy

At Mayra’s Spanish Preschool and Daycare, our childcare philosophy is centered around creating a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can learn and grow while having fun. We are dedicated to providing a comprehensive Spanish immersion program that not only introduces children to the beauty of the Spanish language but also embraces a play-based approach to education. We believe that children learn best when they are actively engaged in hands-on activities and play, as it promotes creativity, social development, and problem-solving skills. Our commitment is to foster a love for learning, curiosity, and cultural appreciation, all while ensuring the safety and well-being of every child in our care. We understand that every child is unique, and we tailor our approach to meet their individual needs and interests, creating a supportive foundation for their future educational journey.

About our program

Our curriculum is based on High/Scope, an “active learning”, and constructivist educational approach. Active learning means students have directed, experiential or “hands¬on” experiences with people, objects, events, and ideas. Children’s interests and choices are at the heart of High/Scope programs. They construct their own knowledge through interactions with the world and the people around them. Children take the first step in the learning process by making choices and following through on their plans and decisions. Teachers, caregivers, and parents offer physical, emotional, and intellectual support. In active learning settings, adults expand children’s thinking with diverse materials and nurturing interactions. Activities include a component of “plan/do/review” in various centers (dramatic play, computer, art, construction, math, science), interactive storytelling, songs, games, and small group activities (math, language and crafts). These are well balanced for individual, group and free play, and consist of learning activities that will help your child develop his/her emotional, physical, intellectual and social skills.
