I have 10 years of total experience doing in home daycare. I love working with infants to young children, and seeing how they learn and grow! I started doing in home day care many years ago, because I was a single mother at the time, and honestly was fearful about putting my child in a daycare. I wanted to be at home with my child and yet wanted my child to learn, socialize, and have stability and consistency, so I started my own in home daycare to provide that to others as well! I wanted for others to have the same feelings of safety, love, and stability for their children in my care, and have developed some life long relationships with some families as a result. I view my role as a part of a team with the parents!
Location
We are a family home, in a neighborhood close to Shadow Hills Elementary, and about a block away from Riverglen Jr. High School. We are off of State St. and Glenwood/Gary Ln.
About our program
We are family style and play based, allowing children to explore interests on their timeline, in their ways, through play. We care about safety, development, and health of every child, as if they were our own. Our goal is that every child feel like “family” in our care. Children can call me “Gigi” if they like, just as our grandbaby does. We are focused on compassion, consistency, curiosity, healthy eating, solving problems, respect and love for ourselves and others, while mastering basic age appropriate social interactions. We teach basic living skills, such as potty training, cleaning up, using tools like utensils, color crayons, being “nice” to our friends, and pets, taking turns, and so on. We also teach alphabet, numbers, shapes, and other basics based on age. We are low pressure, and understand that each child has different needs.
We do occasional field trips, such as walks, playground, etc. We provide meals, if your child is in attendance during meal times, and snacks. We do celebrate birthdays and some holidays as well, such as Christmas and Halloween. We do have 3 small dogs, and we teach children appropriate interaction with our pets. We have in indoor playroom, sleep room, and outside backyard play equipment as well.
Admissions
Once a parent/guardian reaches out to us, we set up a phone call interview to go over more detailed information and determine if we are a good fit for one another.
Then after the phone interview (if both the parent/guardian and daycare provider feel like our program is a good fit for the child/parent), we schedule a meet and greet/home visit after daycare hours.
Typically meet and greets are done Mon-Fri., between 5:30pm-7:00pm for about 15-30 min. as most information and policies are already discussed during the phone interview. Parents are encouraged to bring their child to the meet and greet. During the meet and greet you will be given copies of the policies/contracts to fill out, if all parties find we are a good fit for one another. Provider can also email policies/contracts in advance of the meet and greet for parents to review and ask questions about during the meet and greet, if parents request that.
Spots will be held once provider accepts intent to enroll the child, payment is made, and contracts/polices are signed, so long as the enrollment is to begin within a couple weeks. We can not hold spots for months out, unless you are paying the monthly tuition each month, to hold the spot that long. This is due to the fact that we are a small daycare and in order to stay in business we must fill spots that we have available.
