My passion for Early Education began in High School; I worked for SVUSD as a Para Educator, assisting students with special needs. The Joy & Fulfillment from my first job brought me Early Childhood Education.
I began working as a Early Childhood Educator in 1984 as a Preschool Teacher for Simi Adventist Hospital, then Parenthood brought me to my forever job…Family Home Child Care Provider.

Philosophy
Our onboarding philosophy recognizes that children are inherently inclined to learn through engagement with caregivers, peers, and materials, fostering a play-based learning approach. We believe that children thrive in an environment where play is child-led, nurturing self-confidence, creativity, and embracing individual differences. The program provides activities tailored to each child’s age to ignite their curiosity and enhance their physical, cognitive, and sensory development. Structured play, opportunities for social interaction, nutritious meals, and adequate rest are essential components of our daily routine.
Location
Nelson Family Child Care is located off Tapo Cyn Rd., just 1 mile north of the 118 frwy. We are in walking distance to Simi Public Library, City Hall, Senior Center, and Lemon Park.
