Our Teachers

Hello there! I am Margarita, and I am the founder of Maggy’s Daycare & Wonderschool. I have been running this program out of my home, but I have been working with children for over a decade and have four adult children of my own as well! I prepared for my program by taking classes, and have 12 ECE units from local colleges that I apply every day to the children in my care.

I believe every child is different, and that’s why I love the ability to run a daycare in my home. I get to know you and your child on a personal level, and meet them exactly where they are.

Philosophy

Our philosophy at Maggy’s Daycare & Wonderschool is to create an environment where everyone feels at home. We dine together, we play together, fostering friendships among all. Through simple rules, we aim to make life easy and fun for everyone. Additionally, I believe in nurturing children in an attentive setting where they can grow and develop. My program is rooted in cariño, a Spanish term embodying warmth and affection, forming the core of my interactions with children. I strive for children to graduate from my program confident in themselves and on a path to success, well-prepared for the world or Kindergarten.

Location

My program occupies the sunroom in the back of my home, which is located in a safe neighborhood near the borders of San Pablo, Tara Hills, and Pinole. Our secure backyard is fenced-in, and children are able to play outside each day.

We are conveniently located minutes from Rt. 80, and many of our parents work nearby at local colleges, schools, and hospitals.

About our program

We spend time each day building literacy skills. During story time each day, we get excited to discuss what the characters are doing and what’s happening in the book. Often time the children will pick what we read from the many on our shelf, and it’s normal for me to act out the characters with voices and movements to keep kids excited and engaged.

I stay in touch with parents. I love to share the special moments that happen here with parents. You may receive a photo or text during the day that lets you know what we’re doing, and I’m happy to share what we did when families and caregivers come at pick-up.

Meal time is special (and healthy!) I met with a nutritionist before starting my program to ensure that children received everything they needed during the day. Whether it’s organic fruits or vegetables at snack or chicken and rice for lunch, I create special meals that we eat together, using that time to build fundamental conversation skills in English and Spanish.
