Our Teachers
I was inspired to start my program when my daughters were young children, and I have now been running my program for 21 years. I love to walk, read, listen to music, dance, and cook, and I bring all of these passions of mine to my program. Before moving to the United States and starting my child care program, I was a nurse in El Salvador.
Achievements
Philosophy
At Little Garden Home Daycare Wonderschool, I approach teaching my children as both an educator and a mother. I believe that is important to foster social and emotional development, where children learn how to express their emotions and respect one another.
Our bilingual program provides an opportunity for our students to develop these key communication skills in both English and Spanish. Through the loving and caring environment we provide, the older toddlers in our program learn to become leaders and care for the younger children in our program.
Location
Little Garden Home Daycare Wonderschool is located in a bright and welcoming home in San Mateo. We’re located close to Highway 92 and El Camino Real.
Children will get to engage in plenty of outdoor play in our private yard. Our students love playing with the play house, cars, and work table we have, and getting to learn about nature and the different seasons in a space they are very comfortable in.
We’ve designed our care environment so that there are plenty of opportunities for bilingual learning. One of our favorite tools as educators is the bilingual mat we use for circle time, where our children can experience the excitement of finding and sitting near colors, shapes, and letters in both English and Spanish.
About our program
A typical day at Little Garden Home Daycare Wonderschool is filled with creativity and curiosity. Our children love to dance and sing, and our dances and songs include lessons in English and Spanish. We provide our students with instruments so that they can learn about different ways to express themselves.
Our program celebrates multiculturalism - we encourage our children and parents to bring meaningful items from their culture so that we can incorporate them into our everyday learning.
During Story Time, we guide our students to ask questions and grow their imagination and understanding of the world around them. We do art activities that develop our students’ motor skills and also grow their ability to work with other students, such as group painting.
I love to cook, and enjoy creating healthy meals that give our students the nutrition they need as well as exposure to different cultures. I cook soups that have lentils and meat, different kinds of pasta, and Peruvian and Spanish food.
