Our Teachers

Leyla Bonilla - Director

Hello! I am Leyla, the owner of Yaya’s Family Home Daycare. I started my child care program in 2014 when I was pregnant with my youngest child. I wanted to be more involved in my own son’s early years and was excited to also provide care to other children in the community.

I aspire to provide a safe and nurturing place for children to learn and explore in my home.

Philosophy

At Yaya’s Family Home Daycare, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an environment that makes children feel welcomed and at home. In our program, children will feel genuinely cared for and cherished.

Daily activities and care will be provided entirely in Spanish and children will be encouraged to speak Spanish in return. Learning a second language at a young age encourages your child’s intellectual and social development!

We are a play-based program and enroll children if a mix of ages (infants through 5 years old). Our program is all in one space so children of different ages are able to interact and learn with and from each other.

Our space is small (as apartments in San Francisco can be!), and we work to ensure children do have space to explore and interact with different materials and learn through play.

Location

Leyla’s Wonderschool is located in a welcoming apartment in the Mission District neighborhood of San Francisco.

We’ve thoughtfully designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), and reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite).

Leyla’s Spanish-immersion child care, I want to provide a loving home away from home.
