Katerine Valderramos

Director & Head Teacher

Hello! I am Katerine Valderramos, the founder of Tiny Seeds Family Daycare . I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 5 years of experience working with young children.

I am a journalist and a motivational speaker from Honduras. I have worked taking care of children and supporting young people in my community since I was 16 years old. All this has been through the church I attended in my country. I have two stepdaughters; they are half Latinas half Asians. Because of their ethnicity, I have been working on the language skill and improving their Spanish language.

Because of their Asian and Latino background, our kids have become trilingual and we have noticed the benefit and development they have had at such a young age. They learned how to interact and communicate with the majority of the people in our community, all this is due to their English, Spanish and Mandarin language skills.

We have seen the benefit from learning a second or third language and we want other children to enjoy, and benefit from it. We want our kids to be able to immerse themselves in the fascination of multiculturalism through language.

Our son has been attending Tiny Seeds for the last 12 months and you can tell how much it has helped him grow. As you can imagine, giving our son the opportunity to interact with other children has contributed tremendously to his development. That was only made possible by the safe and stimulating environment Katerine has created. I can't overstate how much we appreciate the partnership with Tiny Seeds and can't recommend them highly enough!

We have been very happy with Tiny Seeds. Obviously it was very nerve wracking choosing a daycare to send our infant son to in the middle of a pandemic. Katerine made us feel warm and welcomed and she has displayed a great enthusiasm everyday since we have been there. Would highly recommend Tiny Seeds to any parent.

Katherine has been amazing. She is always keeping us updated about our child's progress and letting us know when he is ready to try new things.

Testimonials

Katerine is a very sweet person and it is obvious that she cares very much for the children in her center. She does communicate menus with the food she will be feeding through the week, which is nice to see in advance. Tiny Seeds is 100% Spanish Immersion, but Katerine communicates efficiently via text in English if needed.

I would like to take this time to thank Katerine for a wonderful job she has done in teaching my daughter in her early development. I have seen so much improvement since she stared attending Tiny Seeds Family Daycare. One of the things I love about this place is that it is in a safe location, fun, clean and provides healthy meals for the kids. My daughter has been attending Tiny Seeds since she was a baby. Now she is a toddler I couldn’t be more happier with the choice we made in making Tiny Seeds Family Daycare the number 1 choice for our daughter.

Tiny Seeds Daycare has been amazing for our family! Our 14 month old daughter has been at the center since April 2021. She is always happy at dropoff and pickup. Katerine is in constant communication with us and she has an energetic, warm and caring personality. Tiny Seeds really knows our daughter and cares for her overall wellbeing, development and nutrition.

There are so many little touches that put this center above others - weekly menus posted on the website, individual quarterly reports of what they have observed and what they will help our daughter develop in the next quarter, regular updates with pictures and videos to cute little themed birthday and holiday parties for the children. We are also very pleased with the Covid protocols at the center.

Lastly, we love that our daughter is immersed in Spanish throughout the day! Her third word was ‘agua’ and now she’s also saying ‘leche.’ We have had no issues communicating with Katerine even though we do not speak fluent Spanish.

Katherine and the Tiny Seeds crew are the best.  We were so nervous about sending our son to daycare earlier this year due to the pandemic but after we met Katerine and learned about the steps she has taken to provide a clean, safe and warm environment, we knew that he would be in good hands.  It has been 5 months now, and the only thing we regret is not sending him there sooner. The growth he has shown in the last few months is incredible; taking better naps, learning to communicate and walking.  My favorite part of the day is getting updates from Katherine and seeing our son and the other kids happily playing together, eating together or doing activities together. You can tell everyone at the daycare is loved and cared for. We can’t thank the Tiny Seeds team enough for enriching our son.

Thank you!

Philosophy

At Tiny Seeds Family Daycare , we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by following their own unique style of discovery. It is our goal to provide an environment that helps each child to feel confident and capable. In our program, children will feel supported as they engage with new ideas and learnings.

  • Our goal and motivation to our kids is to educate them, to value every activity, to explore their curiosity, and to overcome any challenge them might have.

  • Respect them in all the possible ways is fundamental in our program; the search for their gifts and talents will be part of our goals.

  • Our ultimate goal with the fusion between English, Spanish and Mandarin, is to work in their socio-development, their early independence and awareness of all people with ifferent backgrounds in our communities. Above all, we will teach them with our example the values and love that makes a person a wonderful being.

Location

Tiny Seeds Family Daycare is located in a spacious, cozy single family home in the Westwood Park neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), sensory area (for spatial awareness and learning through the five senses), and nature area (for discovering nature and science concepts).

Children will have some outdoor time everyday at mix of both my private yard and local parks and playgrounds. Connecting with nature is vital to a child’s happiness and growth.

At Tiny Seeds Family Daycare , I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.
