Our Teachers

We have three teachers at Superkids Preschool Wonderschool: Jennie, Yin, and Candy.

YIN:

Yin Zeng, is the Head Teacher of Super Kids Preschool Wonderschool. She was inspired to start her own program because she has loved working with children since she was young. She 8 years of experience working with young children and is from Guang Zhou, China originally.

She is also a wife and loving parent. Her oldest child just started Kindergarten. Prior to opening her own program, she worked in a center for two years.

Yin has her Child Development Master Teachers Permit. This means that she has taken over 16 units in general education and 6 additional units in specialized education including preschool programming, bilingual development and much more. She also had to complete over 350 days of experience in an instructional capacity in a child care and development program.

All teachers in our school must take classes every year to continue to learn and develop.

JENNIE:

Jennie Li holds a large license. She is from Guang Zhou, China originally and has worked as a nanny for her entire life. She has one child. She opened Superkids Preschool in 2013. She takes child development courses every year. She received the Early Learning Scholarship from the San Francisco Office of Early Care & Education.

CANDY:

Candy is a teacher assistant at Superkids. She has one 5-year son and is from Guang Zhou, China originally. She has taken child development classes and has a teacher assistant certificate. Every year she takes professional development classes to keep growing as an educator.

Philosophy

Super Kids Preschool Wonderschool is intentionally constructed to allow for open-ended educational and play opportunities. Our space is strategically organized into different learning centers like dramatic play, art, math and manipulatives, science, blocks, and reading to allow students to take control of their own learning. The learning centers are organized to allow for a variety of skills to develop in each area.

At Super Kids Preschool we balance our time spent between whole-group activities, small-group activities, and child-led free play. We have a two week plan with a specific theme for children. We spend time observing children to determine how to expand on their interest and deepen their learning by asking questions & introducing new materials.

Theme: Nature and Butterflies

• Observe butterflies
• Water Plants
• Children will sing and dance to the “butterfly song”
• Examine different pictures of butterflies
• Read “A Very Hungry Caterpillar”

Location

Super Kids Preschool Wonderschool is located in a warm, welcoming single family home in the Peter neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include manipulatives and math area (for fine motor skills and beginning math concepts), art area (for expressing emotions and ideas), and nature area (for discovering nature and science concepts).

Children will have some outdoor time everyday in my private yard or outdoor space. Connecting with nature is vital to a child’s happiness and growth. There is a full herb garden in the backyard that kids can interact with during the day. We often use things from the garden to make our own lunch!

At Super Kids Preschool Wonderschool, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.

About our program

Super Kids Preschool is a bilingual program. There are many known benefits to a bilingual program and mandarin does not need to be the first language of the child. Language is how children connect with people, build relationships, and increase self-esteem. Children from all language backgrounds will flourish in a bilingual program with caring teachers who will allow them to experiment, make decisions, take risks, learn from their mistakes and solve problems in both Mandarin and English.

Benefits of a bilingual program:

• Children who attend bilingual preschool have a better ability to monitor their immediate environment compared to monolinguals. They exhibit more mental flexibility and a stronger ability to switch between tasks (also known as ‘working memory’)
• Children who attend bilingual preschool show increased self-regulation skills
• Early and consistent bilingualism has been shown to delay the onset of dementia and Alzheimer’s
• Focus on proficiency in both languages to increase executive functioning, academic success, and lifelong learning
• Language acquisition and proficiency is developed through exploratory lessons, story time, activities, drama, arts and crafts, cooking activities, and much more
• Children and teachers converse, share experiences, and recognize that language and conversations are central
• Play-based learning in a rich learning environment that incorporates children’s ideas and interests, offers a variety of open-ended experiences, and utilizes indoor and outdoor areas to facilitate play and learning
• Each child’s individual needs and interests are recognized to offer meaningful and nurturing interactions

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application at www.wonderschool.com/super-kids-preschool-wonderschool-3604/apply – Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
