Hello, my name is Lizeth Romero, and I have been working in childcare for 13 years. My journey in childcare began as a nanny where I babysat for years. During that time, I realized my passion for early childhood and decided to open my own family daycare with my husband Jonathan Aya. Working with children has been a truly rewarding experience for me. I love watching them grow and go through different stages of development. It’s amazing to see how their personalities and interests develop as they grow up. One of the things I enjoy most about working with children is the sense of wonder and curiosity that they bring to every interaction. It’s exciting to see the world through their eyes and to watch them learn and explore the world around them. Throughout my 13 years in child care, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of children with different backgrounds and abilities. Each child is unique and I believe it is my responsibility to meet their individual needs and help them grow and prosper in their own way. In short, working with children has been an amazing experience for me. Watching them grow and develop has been a source of joy and inspiration in my life. I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their lives and help them on their journey of discovery and learning.
Testimonials
From Jose Camargo.
Lizet from Sunshine & Smiles used to be my nanny for my now 4YO daughter. She’s very loving, caring, and dedicated with everything she does with the little ones. I highly recommend her, since her values & guidelines are still reflected on my daughter’s actions. Best of luck on this new journey, Liz!
Philosophy
As a play-based childcare provider, my philosophy revolves around creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can explore, learn, and develop at their own pace through play. I believe that play is the foundation for all learning and that children learn best when they are engaged and having fun. In my childcare program, I strive to create a play-based curriculum that is child-led, developmentally appropriate, and inclusive of all children’s needs and abilities. I encourage children to be active participants in their own learning, and I provide opportunities for them to make choices and explore their interests. I believe that each child is unique and has their own strengths and challenges. Therefore, I work to create individualized plans that meet the specific needs of each child in my care. I encourage children to express themselves and help them to develop their social and emotional skills, as well as their cognitive and physical abilities. I also believe in building strong partnerships with families and caregivers. I regularly communicate with parents to keep them informed of their child’s progress, and I seek their input and feedback to ensure that their child’s needs are being met.
Location
Sunshine & Smiles Daycare is located in the Mission Bay area. Our daycare is situated in a cozy apartment that provides a safe and comfortable environment for children to learn and play. One of the highlights of our location is our proximity to Mission Bay Kids Park, a fantastic outdoor space where our kids can enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. We love taking our little ones to this park because it has plenty of room for them to run around and explore. With features like swings, slides, and climbing structures, it’s the perfect place for children to burn off some energy while having fun with their friends. Another nearby attraction that we frequent is Spark Social SF, a trendy food park that offers a variety of delicious food options for adults and children alike. Overall, we feel fortunate to be located in such a vibrant and diverse area of San Francisco, where there are always new places to explore and fun activities to enjoy. If you’re looking for a quality daycare with a prime location, Sunshine & Smiles is the perfect choice for you and your child.
About our program
Hello! My name is Lizeth Romero and with my husband Jonathan Aya we are the operators of Sunshine & Smiles Daycare. We run our childcare daycare, which means we provide a warm, safe and nurturing environment for children in the comfort of our own home. At Sunshine & Smiles, we believe in teaching children through a play-based philosophy. We understand that children learn best through hands-on experiences, and our goal is to provide them with opportunities to explore, create, and discover through play. We offer age-appropriate toys, games, and activities that encourage imagination, creativity, and curiosity. In addition to our play-based approach, we also strive to prepare our children for kindergarten. We provide activities that help them develop important skills like letter and number recognition, fine motor skills, and social-emotional skills. We want our children to feel safe and ready for the next step in their education. In our daily routines we like to take them to the nearby park to enjoy the outdoors. We believe in the importance of fresh air and physical activity, and we love watching children run, jump, and play with their friends. Another activity that we like to do is reading. Reading is fundamental, and we want to instill a love for it in children from an early age. We provide age-appropriate books and encourage them to participate in group reading activities. Finally, we love to celebrate all the holidays with our children. Whether it’s Valentine’s Day, Halloween or Christmas, we always make sure to create a fun and festive atmosphere. We provide activities and crafts that tie in with the holidays, and we love seeing our children’s faces light up with excitement. At Sunshine & Smiles Daycare, we treat our children like family. We provide a safe and loving environment where children can grow and thrive. We are passionate about what we do and feel privileged to be a part of our children’s lives.
