Lakeya, Owner and Head Teacher
Hello! My name is Lakeya and I am very excited to open up my home to children in our community. I have worked with children for over 20 years as a Child Care Provider, Senior Site Coordinator in a non-profit reading enrichment program, and a Lead Preschool Teacher.
I have completed coursework in Early Childhood Education and earned a Associates Degree in Medical Assisting. I worked with infants at Saint Lukes Hospital. Under a Highly qualified OB/GYN Fertility, and chronic illness specialist in San Francisco.
I previously ran my own family child care for 10 years when my own children were young. I took a break to focus on teaching elementary school children in the Peninsula , but missed working with younger children, so I have reopened a program that is currently operating going on 6 years.
If this is the right fit for your precious joy. We welcome you all with open arms.
I look forward to meeting you With Love from your future rise up family!

Philosophy
We believe if you teach a child confidence in embracing their identity and curiosity there is no end to what they will learn. At Rise Up Child Care, we base learning off the children’s interests. We believe in nurturing each child’s foundation so they can build confidence through growth and development.
“Water is more than water. You can freeze it, it can evaporate, you can drink it, it makes plants grow. It drips on your head. It can cleanse you. One subject can be very interesting”. - Rise Up
Location
Our program is a home-based family child care in the Visitation Valley neighborhood of San Francisco. Our indoor classroom is set up to ensure children have access to materials and activities to catalyze their curiosity and development. We have a dramatic play area with a play kitchen and dolls. We have blocks. We do dancing and music and movement every day.
We also know the importance of getting outside and visit the Visitation Valley Greenway Childrens Playground and Visitacion Valley Greenway Community Garden each week.
About our program
We provide positive guidance, praise, and encourage controlled choice and independence. We embrace different cultures and the richness that each culture has. We teach children social skills, encourage creative play, artistic expression, and nature exploration.
For older children in the program, we also have activities aimed towards academics and kindergarten readiness.
