Hasna Khedhri, Owner, Director, & Teacher

With more than 20 years of experience as a French teacher and early childhood educator, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in French Language and Literature and a Master’s degree in General Linguistics. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education to continue deepening my knowledge of child development and early learning. My passion for languages and working with young children inspired me to create Mini Monde, a warm and nurturing environment where children can learn, explore, and grow through the joy of French immersion.

Khira, A Khira brings a unique blend of advanced mathematics, early childhood expertise, and language integration to the classroom. After earning her Master’s degree in Mathematics, her career took a beautiful turn when she welcomed her first son. Watching him grow sparked a deep passion for early childhood education, prompting her to jump into the field and earn additional degrees to fully master child development. Khira loves combining her analytical background with her knowledge of languages to create a rich, engaging, and supportive environment where young minds can thrive.

Matilda, Passionate, experienced, and French-trained educator with over a decade of experience caring for children of all ages. My journey began as a young teenager in France, babysitting for local families and discovering a natural ability to connect with children. What started as a rewarding neighborhood job quickly blossomed into a lifelong passion for early childhood development.Driven by this love for kids, I pursued a career in Early Childhood Education, transitioning from a dedicated babysitter to a fully qualified classroom teacher. In the classroom, I thrived by designing engaging, play-based curricula, fostering emotional growth, and creating safe, inclusive environments where every child could flourish. Today, I bring the best of both worlds to my babysitting roles: the warmth, energy, and adaptability of a personal caregiver, combined with the structured expertise, developmental knowledge, and patience of a professional educator. Whether organizing creative arts and crafts, sharing my French culture and language, or supporting daily routines, I am dedicated to helping children feel safe, happy, and inspired.

Through meaningful experiences, caring relationships, and opportunities to follow their interests, children are empowered to build confidence, express their ideas, and develop the skills they need to thrive. Our goal is to create a nurturing community where children and families feel a genuine sense of connection and belonging.

At Mini Monde, we believe children learn best when they are given opportunities to explore, wonder, create, and make meaningful discoveries. Our approach blends play-based and child-centered learning with inspiration from Reggio Emilia and Montessori, while respecting each child’s unique interests, abilities, and pace of development.

Mini Monde is located at 1112 Howard Street in San Francisco’s vibrant SoMa neighborhood, close to downtown and surrounded by a diverse, active community. Our central location makes it convenient for families who live or work in SoMa, the Civic Center, Mission, and surrounding neighborhoods.

Families have easy access to Muni and other public transportation, with several transit stops just a short walk from our preschool. Nearby family-friendly spaces such as Yerba Buena Gardens and its children’s playground provide opportunities for families to enjoy outdoor play and exploration.

Our location offers the convenience of being close to schools, parks, cultural attractions, and downtown San Francisco while providing children with a warm, nurturing preschool environment. To ensure a successful start at Mini Monde, we have established the following enrollment steps to protect our community and ensure a “best fit” for every family.

1. Mandatory Family Tour Before an enrollment agreement is issued, a private tour is mandatory. When: Tours are held on Sundays by appointment. Who: Both parents (if applicable) and the child must attend. Purpose: This allows us to observe your child in our “mini world” and ensures that our hybrid Reggio-Montessori philosophy aligns with your family’s educational goals. Enrollment cannot proceed without this personal visit.
2. Required Documentation The safety of our students is our primary concern and a legal requirement under California law. All enrollment forms, emergency contact information, and up-to-date immunization records must be submitted and reviewed 48 hours before the first day of attendance. * Note: A child cannot be admitted into the classroom if any state-mandated paperwork is missing.
3. Commitment to Inclusivity Mini Monde is a community built on respect and diversity. Children are admitted without regard to race, culture, sex, religion, national origin, or disability. Special Needs: We are committed to being an inclusive environment. We do not discriminate on the basis of special needs, provided that a safe and supportive environment can be maintained for the child, the staff, and the other students within our specific facility and staffing ratios. We work closely with families to determine if our facility, staffing ratios, and French immersion model can provide a safe, supportive, and effective environment for the child. Collaborative Care: We welcome collaboration with outside specialists (OT, PT, speech therapists) to ensure a holistic approach to your child’s development. Accommodations: We recognize that every child is unique, and we are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to allow children with disabilities to participate fully in our program. These may include modifications to our daily routine, specialized seating, or the integration of specific sensory tools. We strive to accommodate every child’s needs as long as it does not result in a “fundamental alteration” of our program or pose an “undue burden” on the center’s operations and staffing ratios.
