Our Teachers

Cecilia Guerrero is the author and creator behind Mamaestra and the Loritos Spanish program. She is a specialist in applied linguistics, early bilingual development, and play-based language instruction. With years of experience teaching young children, Cecilia designs joyful, science-backed methods that help families build real oracy and confidence in Spanish.

Philosophy

At Mamaestra, we believe in the power of creer, crear, criar y crecer. We believe (creer) in every child’s natural capacity to learn; we create (crear) playful, meaningful environments; we nurture (criar) with warmth and intention; and we help children grow (crecer) through language, connection, and curiosity. Our approach is nature-based and rooted in neuroplasticity—honoring how young brains learn best: through movement, sensory experiences, relationships, and joyful repetition. Every moment becomes an opportunity to build bilingual foundations that are gentle, authentic, and developmentally aligned.

Location

We are a nature-based program rooted in the belief that children learn best through movement, exploration, and connection to the natural world. Our current home is the Presidio, where forests, trails, and open spaces inspire curiosity and language every day.

We are also excited to announce that we are opening a new space in Golden Gate Park, expanding our mission to bring joyful, research-based language development to more families. Surrounded by nature, children grow their Spanish through play, discovery, and meaningful interactions—always guided by our Mamaestra philosophy.

About our program

Loritos is a warm, nature/play-based Spanish program designed especially for little learners. Rooted in early-childhood best practices and supported by Mamaestra’s language-development approach, Loritos helps children build confidence, curiosity, and early oracy skills in Spanish.

Through songs, movement, exploration, storytelling, and hands-on activities, children don’t just learn Spanish — they live it. Every session invites them to talk, explore, imagine, and connect with the language in meaningful, joyful ways.

Loritos/parrots is built for families who want a gentle, natural path to bilingualism. Our program honors children’s developmental stages, nurtures emotional safety, and celebrates the magic of early language learning.
