Hello! I am Imane Elkhartami, the founder of Imane’s Wonderschool. I was inspired to design my own space and program where children can blossom and grow has always been my dream. I have 7 years of experience working with young children that has helped me create the vision for what that space should be.
I have a Master’s Degree in Economics from Morocco and when I moved to the United States I went to Alameda Beauty College and got my license. I worked from 2008 to 2012 as a Hair Stylist until I had my son. My son is about to turn 6 years old and start first grade, but attended a wonderful Montessori-based school for his child care.

Philosophy
At Imane’s Wonderschool, we believe that each student is capable of shaping and creating their educational journey. Our program gives children the power to make decisions about how they will spend their time and uses their natural curiosity to drive learning. Our home has been crafted to support each child’s unique development with an array of activities that meet students where they are and emphasize independence.
Our founding teacher, Imane, uses a Montessori-inspired approach to her Wonderschool after seeing the impact that the program had on her own son. Now in first grade, she credits his success in elementary school and love of learning to the years he spent with teachers who focused on guiding him through his own interests and pursuits. Our hope is to inspire students to engage with the space, teacher, and each other in a setting that was entirely crafted to have them actively lead, rather than passively participate, in their growth.
Location
Imane’s Wonderschool is located in a bright, welcoming apartment in the SOMA neighborhood.
We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), and reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite).
Children will have some outdoor time everyday in my private yard or outdoor space. Children need space to run, jump, and move!
At Imane’s Wonderschool, I want to provide a loving home away from home.
