Our Teachers

Hello! I am Bianca Haberek, the founder of Hungry Caterpillars. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 6 years of experience working with young children and I am a mother myself! Childcare runs in my family and before starting Hungry Caterpillars, I worked as a childcare provider with my mother-in-law. I am passionate about providing quality care and love fostering and environment where children can grow to their full potential!

Philosophy

At Hungry Caterpillars, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by following their own unique style of discovery. It is our goal to provide an environment that helps each child to feel confident and capable. In our program, children will feel empowered to follow their own interests in a safe space. We know that good childcare is more than just a quality daycare center but rather the first step in a long journey of growth and education in the life of your little one. With that in mind, we are more than prepared for and happy to undertake the responsibility of this task while working side-by-side with parents toward our goal of creating strong bonds and a setting that feels like family.

Location

Hungry Caterpillars is located in a bright, warm single family home in the heart of North Beach.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite) and music and movement area (for physical activity and cultural learning).

Children will have some outdoor time everyday at a local park located conveniently right down the street!

At Hungry Caterpillars, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.

About our program

Throughout my years, I have attained extensive and thorough backgrounds which include excellent experience ensuring the safety and well-being of the young children in my care as a self-employed Certified Home-Based Child Care Provider. Through this experience, I have developed a curriculum which includes organizing activities, preparing and serving daily homemade meals and snacks, assistance with potty training and diaper changing, keeping toys clean and disinfected, frequent trips to the park and library, sanitizing facilities, and encouraging communal and emotional development. Additionally, I have experience and knowledge in assisting children through separation anxiety—using distraction and refocussing techniques to help kids through the transition of separating from their parents/caregivers—in order to not only help children feel more at home, but also for parents to feel more comfortable leaving their children while they are at work.
