Our Teachers

Hello! I am Janeth Kies, the founder of Happy Kids Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I have loved working with children since I was young. Childcare actually runs in my family! I have helped my mom run her childcare for years and decided that it was finally time to have my own! I am a parent myself and have over 10 years of experience working in childcare. I am originally from Nicaragua and I hope to share my native language of Spanish with the children in my care. I seek to use my years of experience to create an environment where children can grow, develop and be themselves.

Philosophy

My programs philosophy is focused around providing children with a warm, loving environment, where they can develop and prepare for school. My program is designed to promote social interaction and learn developmental skills for the future. We achieve this by fostering personal self-esteem, social, mental, emotional and physical growth. My program provides respect for all children and gives them the opportunity to make their own choices to learn at their own pace and to gain confidence. It is with this confidence that they develop decision making, problem solving and learn how to operate with independence in a stimulating environment.

Program activities at Happy Kids support different areas of early childhood development such as emotional, cognitive, social and physical development. To this end, we offer many age appropriate activities to keep children engaged and happy as they explore and learn. Furthermore, to promote communication skills and prepare children for our global world, Happy Kids is a Spanish-Immersion program.

Location

Happy Kids Wonderschool is located in a warm, welcoming apartment in Soma, right in the heart of San Francisco! It is just a quick walk to from Bart and is conveniently located for anyone who works or lives in downtown San Francisco.

At Happy Kids Wonderschool, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.

About our program

We believe that children learn as they play, so we ensure that they play in a safe manner and a safe environment. Brain research shows that children who have opportunities for unstructured, self selected play have significant gains; cognitive, physical, social and emotional. It turns out that play, exploration and creativity provides the best preparation for later academic learning! Additionally, children learn through various methods, but often their physical and social world teach them the most.

We seek to empower children to do things for themselves, to promote self esteem through activities, though peer learning and potty training. We believe learning to deal with intense emotions is key in self-development and the understanding of one’s emotions. Healthy emotional development allows a child to be confident as an individual as well as confident in a group setting.

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
