Hello! I am Kelly Ortega, the founder of Growing Seeds Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom, grow and connect to nature.. I have 5+ years of experience working with young children.

Philosophy

Please note that my license is pending. If you choose to enroll in my program, your child will not be able to start until after I receive my license.

At Growing Seeds Wonderschool, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by following their own unique style of discovery. It is our goal to provide a natural environment that helps prepare children to thrive at home, in school and the broader world. In our program, children will feel supported as they engage with new ideas and learnings.

Location

Growing Seeds Wonderschool is located in a spacious, welcoming single family home in the Excelsior neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include nature area (for discovering nature and science concepts), art area (for expressing emotions and ideas), and music and movement area (for physical activity and cultural learning).

Children will spend most of the day outdoors at mix of both my private yard and local parks and playgrounds. Connecting with nature lets children gain deeper knowledge of themselves and the world.

At Growing Seeds Wonderschool, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.

About our program

Our program has a unique approach to learning outdoors. Our morning program from 8:30am-1:30pm allows our young explorers to learn outdoors in nature. Two one day a week we meet at Glen Park Canyon and then another day at Artillery Art Gallery in the Mission District. Our extended hours aftercare is hosted in the Excelsior in our in-home garden and play space. Whenever weather does not allow for outdoor exploration we meet in-home.

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.

Note: All enrolled students cannot start in my program until I receive my license from the state
