Our Teachers

At Growing Place Family Preschool, we believe one of our greatest strengths lies in the talents and skills of our staff. Our teachers are knowledgeable about early childhood education and development, developmentally appropriate practice and preschool curriculum, but most importantly, they are thoughtful, warm and nurturing.

Our teachers appreciate that each child has unique strengths, interests, needs and learning styles. Teachers actively engage with children in child-directed play and projects, within a predictable and stable daily schedule. They are intentional and genuine. The trust that is developed between child and teacher provides the support that is needed for each child to reach their highest potential: It enables them to discover their interests, fully explore their intrinsic curiosity and creativity, and to develop self-confidence, independence, and satisfying peer relationships.

The principal qualification for our teachers is the ability and desire to love and respect children unconditionally, connect and communicate with them authentically and develop a relationship with the child that emphasizes that he or she will be heard, seen and honored.

Philosophy

Our child-centered, play-based program emphasizes social-emotional development while promoting individual growth and learning pace. We are committed to respecting each child’s unique journey, encouraging them to be active, make choices, and experiment to develop a positive sense of self in a supportive environment.

About our program

GPFP is a child-centered, Reggio-Emilia-inspired, play-based preschool committed to providing a nurturing environment to families and teachers.

Growing Place Family Preschool is a place where each child feels that they matter and that what they feel, think and say matters.

Admissions

We love sharing our school with potential families! We tour families in the year before their child would start with us (children must be 2 years old by September 1st to start the school year). Tours start in October.

Below is more information about our admissions process.

  1. After exploring our website, if our school feels like a good fit for your child and family please fill out our Admissions Information Form: www.growingplacefamilypreschool.org/admissions.

  2. We will reach out to set up a tour date. Currently our tours are held virtually over zoom. We limit our tours to a couple of families so there is more individualized attention and information during our tour.

  3. After the tour we will follow up with the information we shared and an invitation to join an in-person Walk Through of our school. We will also share a link to our application.
