Our Teachers
Hello! I am Marielena Garcia, the founder of Geneva Family Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom and grow. I have 7 years of experience working with young children.
I started out in early care and education as an Elementary School Teacher in my home country of Honduras. I later moved to the United States in 2016 and started teaching at a Montessori preschool as the Spanish Immersion Teacher. From there, I left to work at Felton Learning Center. I taught preschool-aged children initially, and then left to work at Felton Development Center in the infant and toddler program.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree from the Universidad Technologica de Honduras. I also have my Child Development Associate Teacher Permit and am currently enrolled at the City College of San Francisco. I want to further my knowledge in child development so I can best support the children in my program.
I am also a mother myself. I raised two amazing boys.

Philosophy
At Geneva Family Wonderschool, we believe children grow, learn, and thrive by following their own unique style of discovery. It is our goal to provide an environment that helps each child feel confident and capable. In our program, children will feel empowered to follow their own interests in a safe space.
As a Spanish immersion program, we conduct all classroom activities in Spanish. Children retain language best when they are young. Our goal is to help all children develop and learn the Spanish language so they can continue speaking Spanish as they grow older. Language immersion programs also help students develop mental flexibility, nonverbal problem-solving abilities, and enhanced critical thinking skills.
Location
Geneva Family Childcare Wonderschool is located in an inviting, warm single family home in the Crocker Amazon neighborhood.
We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), and manipulatives and math area (for fine motor skills and beginning math concepts).
Children will spend a significant amount of time outdoors at either a local park/playground or our backyard. We believe that connecting with nature lets children gain deeper knowledge of themselves and the world. There is a fenced in area behind my house. I am in the process of adding a sand pit and water area for my students.
At Geneva Family Childcare Wonderschool, we provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.
