Hello! I am Delia Suarez, the founder of Delia’s Little Angels Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom and grow. I have 19 years of experience working with young children.
I received the 2019 Excellence in Teaching Family Child Care Recognition Award from First 5 of San Francisco. I have received stellar recognition for my program repeatedly since I opened.

Testimonials
“Delia is a wonderful lady, she takes great pride and care in the children she cares for and educates. I love her incorporation of green living into the curriculum she teaches the children especially the gardening. Her program is also Spanish-immersive, so children learn Spanish while they play! I wouldn’t trust any other daycare business with my child!” - Jose
Philosophy
At Delia’s Little Angels Wonderschool, we believe that children learn through exploring, and we strive to create a fun learning environment where children are encouraged to engage in activities that help them learn and develop. We believe in creating a safe environment where children can feel happy, where parents feel trust, and where teachers are responsible for helping children develop into well-balanced individuals with a range of interests and a curiosity to continue learning. We promote respect and foster a creative environment where children are free to explore and learn in a fun manner.
We partner with parents to raise healthy, happy children and emphasize two-way communication as essential to this partnership. We promote our program through the Healthy Roots philosophy of engaging children in gardening and food justice. We do this by growing our own vegetables, which helps to expand their language skills and facilitate the children’s appreciation for the environment, healthy eating habits, water conservation, and self-sufficiency.
Location
Delia’s Little Angels Wonderschool is located in a spacious, beautiful single family home in the Bayview Heights neighborhood.
We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include nature area (for discovering nature and science concepts), art area (for expressing emotions and ideas), and dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy).
Children will spend most of the day outdoors in my private yard or outdoor space. Connecting with nature is vital to a child’s happiness and growth.
At Delia’s Little Angels Wonderschool, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.
About our program
Program activities at Delia’s Little Angels support different areas of early childhood development including emotional, cognitive, social, and physical development. To this end, we offer many age-appropriate activities to keep all children engaged and happy as they explore and learn. We believe that children learn as they play, so we ensure that they play in a safe manner and a safe environment. Additionally, children learn through various other methods, but often their physical and social world teaches them the most. Even small infants learn this way.
Woven throughout our activities in Delia’s Little Angels Day Care is the Healthy Roots program. This program is a gardening and food justice project for Early Childhood Education Entrepreneurs. This project integrates gardening into our regular programming to develop in children an interest for healthy eating habits, an appreciation and desire to protect the environment in which they live, and greater linguistic development in children. Children not only garden their own vegetables, but they also make compost for the plants, learn about recycling and water conservation, and enjoy the fruits of their labor in the form of delicious vegetables.
Additional examples of our program activities and how these activities contribute to a child’s healthy development are as follows:
- Emotional Development: We seek to empower children to do things for themselves and to promote self-esteem through activities, peer-learning, and potty-training. Learning to deal with sometimes intense emotions is key to gaining self-regulation; it is a lifelong skill that begins in infancy. Healthy emotional development allows a child to be a part of a group and to find balance and their place in the world.
- Cognitive Development: We help children understand the world through activities like constructing with blocks, play-doh model building, figuring out puzzles, coloring, and creative finger paining - among other activities! A well-balanced child is able to transform experiences and exploration into a knowledge base that supports all other learning. It is vital that we understand that cognitive ability is only one aspect of development. Progress across all domains allows a child to integrate their experiences and move from one stage of development to the next at their own pace.
- Social Development: Peer learning and activities with other children in our care develops positive lifetime social skills. Negotiating the emotional landscape of being in a group for extended hours every day is a fine art. Empathy needs to develop along with the give and take that is natural in group settings. Children need a balance of activity and quiet time to sort through their interactions with friends and other members of the group. Guidelines and positive guidance offer important support as children gain confidence in meeting their own needs, while allowing others to also benefit from the group experience.
- Physical Development: Running, swinging, climbing, jumping, hopping, balancing, biking, digging in the sand - all are important physical abilities that help children gain mastery and strength. Kinesthetic learning means that the body, in its own way, provides key learning experiences without which a child’s development is incomplete. Since healthy physical development proceeds from gross to fine motor skills, we know that children who have had ample opportunities for active movement and play are then able to go on to the fine motor abilities necessary for “school,” which often involves sitting still, holding a pencil, reading and writing, following whiteboard instructions, etc.
- Outdoor Play: Outdoor fun is one of the best parts of any young child’s day. We provide a yard with enough space and sturdy equipment so a child can use his or her imagination while exercising among lots of natural life. Our structures may have connecting slides, firefighter poles to shimmy down and inch up, tunnels to crawl through, a swinging bridge that connects one side to the other, and much more. A child will use multiple skills and create dozens of scenarios as s/he plays on this structure. We also provide equipment for digging, hauling, building, and riding. A connection to nature helps the child understand the cycle of life and how things are inter-connected. as well as provides rich sensory learning experiences. Many say that nature is the best laboratory for children; the sciences, math, physics, just about any subject can be discovered in nature, the great teacher.
- Other Activities: One example of how our other activities provide rich learning and teachable moments is Music and Movement. Our Music and Movement time contributes to a child’s physical well-being and development. Creative movement, learning to move your body through space, in time to the music or while pretending to be a falling leaf is a creative way to tap into a child’s imagination and artistic ability. Music helps children connect the outer world of movement and sound with the inner world of feelings and observations. Children learn music the same way they learn language - by listening and imitating. Listening to music also teaches important pre-reading skills. Youngsters can use small drums or other percussion instruments to play the rhythmic patterns of words. They can also learn to hear the differences between fast and slow, loud and soft, one at a time and together, etc.
- Rest Time: Napping or resting is also part of our daily program. It allows children to restore energy and aids in proper growth and development.
- Potty Training: In partnership with parents, we potty train for children ready to leave the diaper behind.
