Our Teachers

I grew up in Mexico in a large family (immediate and extended) and I always have had young children around me which has helped me learn how to take care of them from a very young age but I’ve been working professionally for about 11 years. I have always loved being with children and this drove me to pursue a career working with children. I have taken over 30 units in Child Development, RIE certification and positive discipline certification (I believe in learning new things every day).

I believe in setting a loving, caring, and safe environment around children as well as getting them on a schedule to support their development. I also believe in trying to provide the best possible care and am highly focused on meeting their individual needs.

Testimonials

“Clarissa is very attentive, loving and a total natural with kids. She’s been working towards a child development degree all this time as well.” - Stephanie

“As a first-time mom going back to work, it was crucial for me to find a nanny that I could trust, depend on, and provide care and an environment that would allow my son to thrive. Clarissa met all our expectations and went far beyond what I could have hoped for my son.” - Payal and Stuart

“My son immediately bonded with her at his daycare, and since then she has been the first person we call whenever we need a babysitter. Clarissa is the perfect combination of responsible, caring, attentive, and fun. We always feel completely at ease leaving our son with her, and he is always so happy to see her. She’s great at engaging him with play, music, and dance, speaking to him in Spanish and English, and is so good at getting him to do things he doesn’t want to do (bath, brushing teeth, bedtime).” - Sarah

“Clarissa has been taking care of P. and her nanny-share buddy for the past year and it’s been a truly exceptional experience: Clarissa takes them on such fun adventures to various wonderful kid places (e.g. Academy of Sciences, SF Zoo, Children’s Creativity Museum), as well as playgrounds, recreation centers, and so on – she’s even discovered some great free classes for them to take! All along, Clarissa has been super dependable, sent us a ton of cute pictures of P., been a breeze to communicate with, fed them lots of yummy and nutritious food, and overall greatly exceeded our expectations for a nanny.” - Mike

“Clarissa was my son’s nanny and words can not describe how sad we were that we needed to relocate and lose her. She was always on time, always very organized, and always took her role as caretaker very seriously. Every day he would go to classes, museums, storytimes, soccer class, and so many more activities.” - Jennifer and Austin

“She is wonderful: professional, reliable, and wise. My son loved her and she taught us quite a lot about taking care of kids, too. After required shelter in place ended and we went back to nanny share, we were particularly impressed with how seriously she took COVID19. Safety was her top priority (and ours). It was remarkable how well she moved from being super adventure nanny to shelter in place nanny.” - Jennifer and Matthew

“Clarissa has been working with us for over 4 years. We couldn’t have found a better caretaker for our two girls (first with our older daughter Adalyn, and now our younger daughter Noelle) as she really has become an honorary Auntie to both of them. She has an assertive style with the girls, which a lot of parents strive for - the perfect balance of setting age-appropriate limits well as modeling kindness and compassion. She takes initiative on things with them without being asked and has developed great routines for each girl for their individual needs. She used to take them on a lot of adventures during the week all over the city (many of them free) however adjusted quickly when COVID-19 broke out a year ago to minimize exposure for herself and our family. And the most important thing, she truly loves both our daughters and they love her so much as well.” – Sally

Philosophy

My philosophy is a combination of RIE, play base and nature base where I take children outside most of the day and I let them explore their surroundings by touching the grass, flowers, dirt, sand.

With infants I tend to lead the games and activities whenever they need me however as the child becomes older I follow a child-led (RIE) philosophy. This way I am able to pursue their interests and support curiosity and creativity. By doing this I believe it allows the older children to feel heard and become more independent. It’s important to model healthy respectful relationships like this with the children to support their long-term term emotional development.
