Our Teachers
I’m certified in Early Childhood Education and have been working in childcare for 20 years. I worked as a nanny for 17.5 years and I opened Blueside Preschool in 2021. I help children further develop their social skills, emotional regulation, confidence, self esteem, teach them Spanish while providing them with amazing outdoor exploration and wonderful connections.
I’m originally from El Salvador, mom to a lovely daughter, who is now 23 years old. She’s an artist living in New York. I live with my little dog, Blue. He is extremely sweet and loving. The children enjoy being greeted by him in the morning. He is our best friend.
Philosophy
The early years of a child’s life are busy. Learning is happening all the time and is interwoven through all the developmental domains including Physical, Social/Emotional, Cognitive, and Communication. Our role is to become involved in play-based group learning experiences as a guide and resource. Each child is viewed and honored as a unique individual, a natural researcher with an infinite capacity to learn. We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia Philosophy as we observe, listen and document while they teach us how to better serve their needs and challenge them in appropriate ways. Our play group is small by design allowing children to form a strong bond with their peers where older children learn empathy, respect, and acceptance while establishing a leadership role. Similarly, younger children benefit from the experience and wisdom that their older friends can offer.
Location
We are located in Cole Valley within walking distance to the Panhandle Playground, Koret Playground, Buena Vista Park, as well as the Randall Museum where we visit at least once per week. The Park Branch library is located just a few blocks away also.
About our program
Blueside Preschool is a Spanish Immersion Program in a home like environment that offers early learning services to toddlers and preschool-age children. Curriculum adapts accordingly to children’s needs, interests and learning styles. Daily activities include singing, movement, storytelling and group instruction. Outdoor walks and park visits support nature exploration and gross motor development. At Blueside Preschool, we strive to create an environment where every child feels nurtured and understood by experienced, dedicated and caring teachers who value their opinions and guide them as they learn about the world around them. With an appreciation for their uniqueness as individuals, we offer a holistic approach and delve deeply into empathy, respect, self-love and mindful living. We help them cultivate a strong relationship with themselves and the world.
