Our Teachers

Adriana Valdiviez, Head Teacher

Adriana is a San Francisco Native who was born and raised in the Mission District. Adriana has over 10 years experience in child care from ages 0-13+. Adriana is passionate about teaching, caring and loving young children. She believes every child is unique in their own way and learns at their own pace. Her role at the nursery is to provide safety, help build confidence, and to build intimate and special bonds with each and every child.

Adriana has two daughters: one who enjoys playing the violin in her school orchestra and the youngest who is in kindergarten and is fascinated by space (she plans to visit the stars one day!). Adriana has a fascination with owls and collects owl ornaments for fun. You will see them in her nursery. Her favorite past time is spending time in nature. Fitzgerald Beach is her favorite place to go to with her family.

I love Bebe Feliz and I'm so happy I found it. When I drop off my child every morning, I can tell he's so happy to be there.

Philosophy

Here at Bebe Feliz Nursery, we believe every child deserves to be nurtured, respected, appreciated and loved. We are more than just a child care; here your curious little one can explore through their five senses, stimulating their growth. We provide a “home away from home” to make your child feel safe and secure. We also believe that a child learns to trust when their needs are met quickly. Therefore, we offer a safe place to learn and explore.

Social-emotional skills give infants and toddlers the self-esteem and self-confidence they need to build loving and supportive relationships. We embrace this through playtime. At the nursery, our teacher-to-student ratio is 1:2, which means your child will receive undivided attention from our teachers in an intimate setting. We have just 4 infants and 2 teachers per day.

Young children pick up language quickly. Here they will be exposed to Spanish. Our teachers speak, read and sing in Spanish. Music is a huge part of our program, and the children will be exposed to different rhythms and beats from Latin American countries.

Location

Bebe Feliz Nursery is located in a home in the Park Merced complex. Park Merced was built in the early 1940’s. The community is very family friendly.

Bebe Feliz Nursery is an in-home nursery—“home” is at the essence. We offer a home-like environment with an educational twist. We have a gross motor skills play area where young ones can use their upper and lower body strength. The toy section has been thoughtfully laid out for children from 6 months - 3 years old. Our reading corner is full of Spanish books along with a cozy chair where we encourage our students to engage with literature.

The best part of our location is the natural life we hear, see, smell and touch! Colorful butterflies and hummingbirds sometimes make a visit to our patio. Children can hear the sounds of crickets nearby and may become curious to look for the source.

We are steps away from a new gated playground that we use on a daily basis. At the playground, children practice their motor and social emotional skills.

About our program

Use of Spanish in the classroom/Uso del Español en el aula

Research shows that young children are uniquely suited to learning a second language and there are many developmental benefits that arise from learning language at a young age. We have designed our curriculum at Bebe Feliz Nursery to be full Spanish Immersion. For children who have not been exposed to Spanish, Adriana will create a plan that your family is comfortable with. Adriana is passionate about Latin Culture and music. Children are exposed to the Spanish language through “musica” and sing and dance while hearing Spanish nursery rhymes.

Parent Involvement

Our goal is to create a program that is like a second family for your children. We hope to build close relationships with parents. While we ask that parents do not stay past drop-off each day as that can disrupt transitions, we do welcome parent volunteers in the classroom! Parents have the option to volunteer one day in the classroom every 2 months. Please let Adriana know if you are interested in helping. We’d love your support!
