Our Teachers

Hello! I am Meron (Mimi) Gebremariam, the founder of Roots & Wings Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 6 years of experience working with young children. Prior to starting my own program, I was working at a center in the Sacramento area.

Philosophy

At Roots & Wings our philosophy for child care is to allow children to play and discover things independently. When children are playing they are learning. They are learning self-control, self-direction, and self-help skills. They are also learning how to cooperate, share, negotiate, and organize. Children need to discover things independently at their own pace and in their own unique way. To accomplish this philosophy I provide a nurturing environment that allows children to explore, experiment, and inquire first-hand. Activities offered are developmentally appropriate for the age group involved and children are welcomed to pursue those activities that spark their interest.

Location

Roots & Wings Wonderschool is located in a inviting, beautiful one story house in the Natomas neighborhood.

Children will spend about half of their time outdoors at either a local park, playground or the backyard. We try to incorporate nature into our daily activities. We will also have the opportunity to garden in the backyard. I truly believe that connecting with nature is vital to a child’s happiness and growth.
