Testimonials
“[Adventure Montessori] provides a safe environment, great set up , great preschool education program with great Montessori materials for kids to learn and explore. The head teacher, Ms. Sithu, is a great certified Montessori teacher with many years of teaching experience. Her enthusiastic, positive and professional attitude, and her love and passion for teaching kids, no doubt make her a great role model and a right person to help all kids to succeed in their early lives of schooling and education.” - P. Philosophy
At Adventure Montessori School, we believe, when free, the potential of the human spirit is unlimited. In our thoughtfully prepared environment, children gain confidence and develop the social, physical, and emotional and intellectual skills that will serve them for life. We are guides as the young child discovers through exploration. From this foundation the doors to independence, self-discipline and leadership are unlocked.
The Montessori method is most associated with very specific materials developed by Maria Montessori. These materials are designed to help children move from the concrete to the abstract and are self-correcting (meaning when a piece does not fit or is left over, the child can easily see it and make a correction without redirection from a teacher). The classroom is divided into four distinct areas: Language and Reading, Math, Practical Life, and Sensorial.
Location
Adventure Montessori Wonderschool is located in a bright, warm single family home in the Natomas Park neighborhood.
By creating a classroom environment that allows for open-ended learning and discovery, we give children a chance to express themselves and understand their world. Each of our classrooms are supplied with Montessori materials that grow with the children as their needs change and grow. We also believe that learning is a cooperative venture which includes other children, their teachers, their families and our larger community. Literacy, math, social studies, science, music and arts are all emphasized through a framework of hands-on experiences.
Children will have some outdoor time everyday in my private yard or outdoor space.
About our program
As a school community, we are committed to values based on an image of children as curious, competent and capable of co-constructing knowledge. Our journey begins as our staff asks questions, listens to children, works with them and documents their work. As children discover and explore, they work on investigations that may last a few days to a few months. All projects must be meaningful to them and their world.
Our classrooms has a Montessori trained teacher. We follow the Montessori philosophy for preschool age children. Following that Montessori philosophy, we prepare the classroom environment according to the children’s developmental level and their ability to work in the classroom. The children are taught independence to work in their classroom and grow at their own pace. The base of the Montessori philosophy is respect which includes respect for the child, parents, classroom, pets and all living things in our environment.
We provide healthy home-cooked meals to all children that attend. We emphasize nutritious foods, such as whole grains, fresh fruits, vegetables and milk. If your child has special dietary needs, please inform the Director and Head Teacher in order to enable us to accommodate your child. In case of severe food allergies or special dietary needs, please contact a staff member.
