Our Teachers

Hello there! My name is Marta, and I founded Nina’s Daycare & Wonderschool 10 years ago as a way to work with children. I love kids, and think that this is such an exciting time in their lives to watch them develop. When I started this program, I took every early childhood course that I could, and frequently spent my weekends attending workshops through CoCo Kids. I think it is exciting to learn new things, and this truly is a ‘family’ daycare as sometimes my husband will help me throughout the day!

Philosophy

At Nina’s Daycare & Wonderschool we make sure that every child gets the love they need to feel supported as they grow and develop in our care. We know that for many children, this is the first time away from home - so we treat each and every child as if they are part of our family. We believe that it is valuable to ask kids questions about how they are feeling every day, because it not only gives them a chance to describe how they feel but also ensures that they feel heard and understood. As children at Nina’s Daycare & Wonderschool grow with us, they continue to develop a sense of who they are and the world around them!

Location

Our program is located in a single-family home nestled into a cozy cul-de-sac in a safe area of Richmond, right along the border of San Pablo and Tara Hills. Our backyard is a great space for children to play every day, but we also take walks around our neighborhood and spend time in Bay Vista and Country Club Vista Parks. Our home is minutes off of 80 and our hours make us convenient for parents commuting to or from San Francisco, San Rafael, or across the East Bay.

About our program

We support students with a great academic foundation. Our circle time is our children’s favorite time of day! We’ll read stories, sing songs, and cover information about the days of the week or months of the year. Little ones who leave Nina’s are prepared for Kindergarten.

Language development happens every day in English and Spanish. Since I am bilingual, I am able to support children regardless of what they speak at home. Research shows this is the best time in a child’s life to learn another language!

Families are kept in the loop. At our program we strive to make parents feel included. We send home projects and provide daily updates as to how each child’s day went.

We enjoy the fresh Bay Area air every day! While our own backyard is filled with play cars and bicycles for gross motor play, we can commonly be found at the two local parks in our neighborhood to keep moving!
